DarkSteven -> Sarah Palin - the anti-Cheney? (1/20/2011 7:48:51 PM)

Palin's going to run in 2012. She HAS to. She is playing herself as a politician to become a celebrity. That said, my stance has been (and continues to be) that there's no way on earth she'll be President. Aside from whether she's electable, she doesn't WANT the job. She likely outearns Obama right now, she never has to answer any pesky questions, and she loves the life she's got. The last thing she wants is to have to grind through legislation and cut deals. Previously, I had projected that she would enter the primaries, and then withdraw at some point, claiming that the grueling pace of campaigning was hurting her family. And then cut some sort of deal with another GOP candidate to deliver her bloc of votes in return for getting some of her pet planks incorporated into his platform. Well, another possibility hit me. She could enter the primary, and then cut a deal with another candidate to become the VP candidate - on HER terms. If elected, she'd be the exact opposite of Dick Cheney - she'd want the VP position for the cachet and visibility but without the grind of doing policy. It goes without saying that she would also eschew the usual funeral attendance, etc., that a VP is expected to do. I still think it more likely that she'll withdraw. But she does have another option.
