Got news for you... even black people use tanning beds.

pahunkboy -> RE: ObamaCare Taxes Home Sales - Clobbers Middle-Class Americans (1/31/2011 8:02:07 PM)

Why?  They dont need a tan.

tazzygirl -> RE: ObamaCare Taxes Home Sales - Clobbers Middle-Class Americans (1/31/2011 8:02:52 PM)

People use them for more than just tans. And, yes, even the darkest of skin can burn.

ObamaCare Flatlines: ObamaCare Taxes Home Sales - Clobbers Middle-Class Americans

“I can make a firm pledge.  Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase.  Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes,” ~President Obama, September 12, 2008

Beginning January 1, 2013, ObamaCare imposes a 3.8% Medicare tax on unearned income, including the sale of single family homes, townhouses, co-ops, condominiums, and even rental income.

In February 2010, 5.02 million homes were sold, according to the National Association of Realtors.  On any given day, the sale of a house, townhome, condominium, co-op, or income from a rental property can push middle-income families over the $250,000 threshold and slam them with a new tax they can’t afford.

This new ObamaCare tax is the first time the government will apply a 3.8 percent tax on unearned income.  This new tax on home sales and unearned income and other Medicare taxes raise taxes more than $210 billion to pay for ObamaCare.   The National Association of Realtors called this new Medicare tax on unearned income “destructive” and “ill-advised” and warned it would hurt job creation.

Do you mean the house that the bank owns?

DomYngBlk -> RE: ObamaCare Taxes Home Sales - Clobbers Middle-Class Americans (2/1/2011 8:59:30 AM)

yeah that exact one. But, of course, instead of thinking that you are lucky to even have a house that is owned by the bank you'd rather bitch and moan about what you percieve to be a problem for you.

Obama Once Said That Forcing the Uninsured to Buy Insurance Is Like Forcing Homeless to Buy Homes
(CNSNews.com) - Long before his administration went into federal court to fight 27 states that are now challenging the constitutionality of the Democrats' health care law, then-presidential candidate Barack Obama told Ellen DeGeneres he opposed forcing the uninsured to buy health insurance, saying it would be like forcing the homeless to buy homes.

1. As Obama had stated, this will not affect anyone who earns less than $250K.  IMO, that's above middle class.
2. As I posted previously, I as a taxpayer spent a helluva lot to prop up home prices via TARP. Why shouldn't I get some tax relief from the recipient of my unwilling largesse?

Real0ne -> RE: ObamaCare Taxes Home Sales - Clobbers Middle-Class Americans (2/4/2011 7:37:20 PM)

P The largest single tax hike in the bill – $210 billion – results from a 0.9-percent increase in the Medicare payroll tax on wages for job creators and small businesses, and a new 3.8-percent surtax on net investment income.

- The threshold amounts for these surtaxes are not indexed for inflation, meaning
that although the taxes are aimed at “wealthy” individuals today, they will reach
increasing numbers of middle-income taxpayers over time, just like the
alternative minimum tax.

- For instance, an individual earning $100,000 today would cross the $200,000
threshold within 2 decades, assuming a yearly inflation rate of 3.5 percent.
P These new taxes will be in addition to numerous proposed tax increases for individuals and businesses outlined in the administration’s budget, adding to the total drag on  conomic growth and job creation just as the economy is struggling to emerge from the worst downturn since the Great Depression.
