A boomerang boy: I heard this term with regard to a young adult who
leaves home but then some years later goes back again. Going and returning.
What motivates those who email to keep coming back, even though one says they are not interested?
They seem to email back months laer.
Or even years.
I don't block everyone who writes so I guess maybe I should if I am not interested?
But there are degrees of interest and types of interest.
Like someone showing interest in my writing.
Is it because they genuinely crave the person they have mailed here?
Is it because they can't take no for an answer?
Is it because they are block mailing?
Anyone here experienced this?

Nope.
My repies are so scathing that anyone who has received one remembers, even years later. They make sure that they stay far, far away from me. [8D]

I've done this. Gotta be honest, sometimes you just feel the itch to recycle old urges and revisit old impulses.

Rejection isn't really an issue. On the right day under the right circumstances you can charm anybody, so if you're even half-interested and there's nothing really at stake sometimes you take another run at it.

Once rejected (real or perceived), I will never initiate contact again. I had one Dom who kept doing that, the 3rd time he tried to "start over" I blocked him. I'm too nice for my own good.

Is that like an ego thing or what? Because you might be missing out!

No, it's an intense fear of rejection thing combined with being naturally shy.

And that says it succinctly. If there is nothing really at stake I get the inpression that for boomerangers there never was and there never will be. Easy come east go and come again?

Awww shyness is a rough thing to overcome. :(

Bon chance in your search and stuff!

I don't worry so much about folks I've never met who contact Me through email.  I really don't believe for a second that anyone is so drawn to a person that they've never met that, if they've been told there is no interest, they are actually craving the person they have contacted.  That's a little too much inflated ego for the person receiving the emails and a bit too unstable for the person emailing in the obsession department.

Real life?  Sure.  I think everybody has had that ex who has said that they regret ending the relationship and wanted a second chance.  I believe that's pretty common.  I still have submissives who will write Me on occasion saying that they wished things had gone differently.  One or two that we don't talk all that often because they can't put friendship mode over and above the wanting it back mode.

For a lot of people, BDSM urges are cyclical. Or, once they "scratch the itch," they find themselves ambivalent about what they did, or satiated and thinking, "I guess I got it all out of my system, it must have just been a phase!" For some this is a few days of disinterest, for others it's weeks or months. It's the reason a lot of people throw away all their toys, either in disgust, or just thinking, "I can't imagine myself every using this stuff again so I might as well toss it."

My guess is that this is a factor. A lot of men just disappear after getting what they think they need, only to return later and have some reason for the disappearance. I'm a pretty consistent luster for all versions of kink, bondage and S&M, and even I have a few days here and there where I can almost say, "I feel like I just grew out of it for good, how could that be?"

It ALWAYS comes back.

You're thinking they remember contacting you. They don't. They send out a couple of hundred emails hoping to get lucky. For all you know they're working their way through the alphabet so you get hit every time they get to the letter P.

Yes I've done that with toys....including beautiful leather crops and shoes which I now regret. It was the association with a certain person that motivated me doing that.

Well I know that is also true as some of them don't even seem to remember that we exchanged quite a lengthy dialogue
. I on the other hand I never forget a face. Some don'y put their faces on a profile though and well one cock shot is as good as any other. Jow come more than one male submissive seems to be sharing the same coc?. Is there a cock catalogue? I've never been forgotten once someone has met me ...oh indeed no.

myotherself -> RE: Boomerang boys...(and girls) (1/30/2011 1:15:13 PM)

I get it a lot. I rarely block people, but I also rarely delete messages.

So when I go to reply, I get a precis of our previous 'conversation'. I had one just yesterday - a local guy - who messaged me about 6 weeks ago. His messages were so ill-thought out and even insulting (although he probably didn't do it deliberately) that I told him there was no point in having a discussion. Yesterday I get a chatty message from him, asking if I fancied meeting for a coffee to see if there was a 'spark'.

The only spark I'd like to see with this doofus is the one which starts the fire in the seat of his pants [:D]

The above used to be My method, too.  It only changed when the "mark as spam and delete" button was made available.  Literally, the same guys sending the same message every two or three months.  I used to post the entire mail history from the last six months back to them.

In many cases, I highly doubt that the sender is that much concerned about the actual person who is the receiver.  More like they are contacting anyone and everyone and don't remember who has already rejected them.

You hit that right on the head. I think it is a combination of that they don't recall writing you (even though stupid as they are, you can see the history of their emails over the last few months) or they are hoping you won't remember them and that they can keep trying.

I have a few people that I actually met in real life and had one date with, who I do not wish to see again, keep asking me to change my mind and give it another try.

I said if I was interested, I would have seen you again, end of story.

I thougth I was scathing in my replies, but probably not as bad as IrishMist! [:D]

saltie -> RE: Boomerang boys...(and girls) (1/30/2011 1:59:18 PM)

I have. I make it clear I am not interested in his fetish which is the only thing he writes about in his mail but a few months later writes again the same thing (fetish). Then again after a few months the same thing.
