I consider a lot of things when I am trying to decide who to vote for. The reactions of other countries doesn't even make the list. Now I admit, I hate the idea of Sarah running for POTUS, but it has nothing to do with what the folks overseas thinks about her.

Nope, not even a top ten. There are far more reasons not to elect her. But, frankly, just the thought the of reactions of other countries, and the knowledge that not one of them would ever take her seriously... lol... sorry... cant do it.

You still didnt explain your reasoning for agreement.

This is all political... and rather badly based. Rehnquist himself set the precedent. And a 4 - 4 vote leaves the Law intact.

The issue of Kagan's participation looms large if the justices' views on the health care law divide along ideological lines. Her absence in such a situation could leave the court split 4-4, which would prevent it from settling the subject with a uniform set of rules for the entire country.

That happens anytime someone recuses themself.   My belief will have nothing to do with whatever she plans on doing.    It is my belief.  Sounds like you are trying to be one of those (like a lot of college, secondary and primary educators) that tell you what to think and that you have to justify what you think with someone elses thought.   Why can't I agree for the sake of agreement for my own reasons.   I am not telling you to justify why she should be allowed.   I have already stated that my opinion doesn't count in this issue.   There is no legal action can be taken one way or the other that I know of.   I explained all that.   So you tell me, What difference does it make if I agree with someone else's thoughts?  Why can't I agree without justifying my position repeatedly?

In light of Obama's expensive wars, lying about Guantanamo, renewing the Patriot Act, maintaining corporate/bank giveaways and bailouts, creating Obamacare, pushing new warrantless wiretaps, and insulting his supporters I don't want to see him get a second term.

..........Obama's actions in Office have convinced me he is not an astute or competent leader and I'd rather see a cactus or even Sarah Palin elected in his stead.

My guess is you never wanted to see him get a first term, but let's clarify some things.

They are not his expensive wars, they are our expensive wars inherited from Bush.  We are withdrawing from Iraq, as promised.
He has stepped up actions in Afghanistan, again as promised.

He has made every attempt to close Guantanamo but met with opposition from Congress, mainly based on a "not in my backyard philosophy" when it came to where to house the prisoners and whether they should be tried in military or civilian courts.

As far as the "giveaways", they are being paid back with interest and the government has turned a profit on those that have been repaid so far.

Creating health care reform was one of the things he was elected on the basis of, so explain to me how that can be considered a failure?

The Patriot Act and the wiretaps I will give you, but then I never expected to be happy with every decision he made.  And what are you referring to about insulting his supporters?

Rahm Emmanuel said Democratic voters were "fucking retarded" if they didn't give Obama the vote he was entitled to despite him not following through with ending war, closing Guantanamo, etc.

Robert Gibbs followed that gem up by stating that Obama's liberal base should be drug tested if they don't like his policy. This insulted Obama's leftist base. Forced urine samples are a bit intrusive, its not a good joke or barb.

Don't piss on someone's leg and claim its raining, it will cause you to lose credibility.

Emmanuel and Gibbs made those comments to win over the center, however, they are incredibly insulting and arrogant statements as they indicate these "great men" see voters as easily manipulated sheep. While voters may be sheep, this type of child Psychology is really counter productive.

I am in a small recession proof business, health insurance is a benefit. Our premiums have gone through the roof as health insurers have raised our premiums and cited Obamacare related expense as the reason.

Big business exports its jobs (and gets Obamacare exemptions), small business got saddled with new new higher expenses (higher insurance premiums).

Small business needs money to hire, creating new expense chills job creation.

As far as wanting to live in a country governed by extreme right and left politicians dream on.

We renamed the Iraq conflict and poured troops into Afghanistan. Orwellian renamings may fly with you but not me, its a war. Afghanistan conflicts have been quagmires for centuries, its unwinnable.

Obama had as much power as his predecessor if not more (until last election), when the Democrats tell you otherwise they are lying.

Making "every effort to close Guantanamo" is not about paying the closure lip service but taking action.

I don't believe Obama is powerless to effect change. His term has proven he has no intention of doing anything but maintaining a Bush light status quo coupled with Socialism, extreme invasion of privacy, entitlement, and arrogance.

I wanted good governance the Democrats and Obama won't provide it, neither will Republicans.

Denial will not win the Democrats the Moderate vote and neither will calling us "racists", or closet Republicans, or invoking the Palin boogieman. The Sarah Palin boogieman will not frighten me into voting for Obama.

I'm likely not going to argue with people who tell me I really wanted Obama to continue moving the US further toward a police state.

Obama had as much power as his predecessor. Obama has chosen his path to defeat and chooses to doggedly follow it.

Sorry hip. I live it. some folks just think it's a bedroom game.

Edited cause My damn big finners hit 2 keys sometimes.
That's you. Don't lay your trip on anyone else, Tovarich. For some folks it IS just a BR game. I used to "experiment" in the bathhouses back in the mid-70s, and we didn't call it a "lifestyle". It was just shit that we did. It didn't become a "lifestyle" until suburban straights started getting involved. No offense, man. And I'm straight, BTW. I was just "exploring" back then.

HK, dont matter to me if you're gay, straight, bi, unsure, celibate or what I've had housemates and room mates that were all the above (sometimes at the same time LOL). I've seen WIITWD go down the tubes since the internet made everyone an instant expert.

Some things were just a lot better and purer in the 70's n 80's.

So you voice a vague opinion on an important matter facing our highest court, with said opinion saying our newly appointed Justice should recuse herself... and you wonder why people ask why you agree???

You want to hide behind the excuse "Because I want too", go right ahead. Its only proving the point that you dont know what you are speaking about.

I would love to see your proof of him telling the voters they were "fucking retarded".

Last August, Emanuel "showed up at a weekly strategy session featuring liberal groups and White House aides," the Journal's Peter Wallsten reported last Tuesday."Some attendees said they were planning to air ads attacking conservative Democrats who were balking at Mr. Obama's health-care overhaul. 'F—ing retarded,' Mr. Emanuel scolded the group, according to several participants. He warned them not to alienate lawmakers whose votes would be needed on health care and other top legislative items."

Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported that Emanuel, exasperated upon learning that liberal special-interest groups were planning to run ads against conservative Democrats not supportive of health care reform, blasted the plan as "f------ retarded" over the summer

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/ynews_pl1101

From all news accounts, it was the plan that drew the comment.

You actually supplied it for me. Thanks.

Obviously Emanuel didn't go to each State knocking on doors and calling people names. He did it in a forum where his comments would be reported.

Even in the best light the "fucking retarded" statement is directed at the strategy of liberal Democrats who planned to run ads opposing more conservative Democrats.

I see it as scolding a group of liberal Democrats by using the insult "fucking retarded" but either way it is not a politically astute way to maintain support or gain it. Biting the hand that feeds and all that.

tazzygirl -> RE: I guess he missed the reading of the Constitution (2/7/2011 11:22:04 AM)

Again, he wasnt calling people that, he was calling the plan that. While I agree his choice of words could have been different, keeping the party unified was a major concern, which the "plan" did not. It was that "plan" that he attacked.

Well its sort of semantics there. I disagree with your interpretation especially in light of Robert Gibbs follow up about drug testing leftists who don't agree with Obama.

I think it was election strategy designed to lure the center by attacking the Democratic left.

Obama was elected with the help of grassroots support from leftists so even calling their plans "fucking retarded" strikes me as a bit much.

There are better ways to win Moderates over (or were, I think it too late now).

tazzygirl -> RE: I guess he missed the reading of the Constitution (2/7/2011 11:38:20 AM)

Your own interpretation is suspect considering your posts in regards to Obama. There is no other way to take his remarks, as many, including those in that meeting, all said the same thing. It was the right, Palin most specifically, who blew it far afield with her "indignation" over the use of the word "retarded". She felt that since her own son was as well, he obviously was making a personal dig at her. [8|]

I actually think your own interpretation is suspect considering your posts regarding Obama.

Anyone who doesn't agree with me should be drug tested because their stance is "fucking retarded".

If this type of logic is all the left has to offer then just rinse and repeat until there is another "shellacking".
