Jimmuh "forun polithy withadth" Cottuh hath thpoken (meaning the exact opposite must be true):

quote:

Updegrove... asked the former president how the United States should view the Muslim Brotherhood, an influential group in Egypt that has ties to Hezbollah and may influence Egypt in the future.

"I think the Muslim Brotherhood is not anything to be afraid of in the upcoming (Egyptian) political situation and the evolution I see as most likely," Carter said. "They will be subsumed in the overwhelming demonstration of desire for freedom and true democracy."

Yeah, right Jimmy. Did you predict the same thing in Iran by any chance?

I'm sure you are much more knowledgeable about Middle East affairs than he is.

I forget, what year was it that you won the Nobel Peace Prize?

Speaking of Nobel Prize "winners" would you like to hear a joke?

The 2009 Nobel Peace Prize "winner" hosted the man who imprisoned the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize "winner" at a lavish dinner and reception.

Funny, huh?

Chinese pianist performs anti-American anthem at White House dinner in front of Obama

A Chinese pianist struck a sour note at a White House state dinner with a rendition of a well-known anti-American anthem.

With the Chinese and U.S. presidents among the dozens of dignitaries watching, Lang Lang belted out ‘My Motherland’, the theme tune to the Chinese-made Korean War film ‘Battle on Shangangling Mountain’.

Host: US President Barack Obama hosts a State Dinner in honour of China's President Hu Jintao at the White House in Washington on January 19

You know whats funnier yet?
Reagan armed and trained bin laden.

Peace prize?
Kissinger got one. Arafat got one.  Cordell Hull got one.  Teddie Roosevelt got one.

It is awarded to who it is felt has done the most to promote peace in that year.

You are so stupid and so full of shit, how do you live with yourself.

Its a political gimmick, the prize itself meaningless. What peace did Obama bring to "deserve" it being GIVEN to him?

What did Jimmuh Cottuh do. He brought peace to the Middle East? He made Hosni Mubarak a close American friend and ally? What.

And you should know, that Hosni came into powere in Oct 81 and Reagan was president.

You should get ahold of some facts, otherwise you look stupid and full of shit, Tom.

Oh, I get you now, well; US (Jimmie Carter) brokered a peace accord between Egypt (Sadat) and Begin (Isreal) which still holds today.

Reagan was trading arms for hostages.

I'm quite taken with mocking Carter's accent. Does that mean the leftists on here can take the piss out of the chimp's faux Texan diction without the Republicansindependents throwing tantrums about it now?

On Yahoo's front page there is a pic of the protestors holding up their shoes!
That's bad, when they take their shoes off the shit is going to hit the fan!
Maybe they'll storm the palace and lynch that no good fucker Mubarak who stole our money.
It'd be nice to have coffee tommorow and see a picture of him strung up from a tree outside the palace.

So might we take from this, your complete approval of the execution of the czar and his family by the bolsheviks? History is clear that the romanovs pretty much raped the country for about a thousand years?

Whatever his other merits or demerits may be, Carter is remembered fondly by me for being the person who brought human rights to the forefront of foreign policy.

There is a long way to go before all States insist a good human rights record is a pre-requisite to good relations, but at least Carter put the issue on the negotiating table and made sure it stayed there.

That was, IMHO, a considerable achievement and one that deserves the highest praise. It also reflects very well on the US and its image internationally even if the US has difficulty always meeting its own human rights standards (water-boarding, Gitmo etc)

Here is perhaps an early indication of how moderate the new Egypt isnt

quote:

Egypt OKs Iran warships through Suez Canal

...It would be the first time since Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution that Iranian warships pass through the Suez Canal, which links the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.

Yeah, much ado about nothing, really.

As per international agreement it can be used in time of war or peace, by every vessel of commerce or war, without distinction of flag.  So, Egypt is finally living up to the international agreement that it made.  It has recently allowed one israeli and eleven us warships to pass thru the canal, the dozen warships wanting to parade in front of Iran.

The closure of that canal to certain countries was part of the 30 year 'emergency' measures.

Possibly, but this new development combined with the vicious public beating and rape of a foreign reporter while the mob attacking her chanted Jew! Jew! Jew! could be an early glimpse into the new ruling class there.

Just, possibly. All I am saying.

Only a century or two in the case of the Romanovs: the Russians changed ruling dynasties pretty often until they were all done away with.

No more than someone like you is an example of the ruling class here, I should think

I believe that at this very moment the military (which stepped in to save her) is still in control and the 'ruling class' of egypt, and it appears that they will be the 'ruling class' this evening and even on saturday, allah willing and the creeks don't rise.

No, decidedly not possible.

Wait.

I thought conservatives hailed Dubya for wanting to spread democracy through the Middle East.

It's spreading.

Maybe you had better decide what side of the fence you want to be on.

Either you are going to support democracy or you are going to support dictatorships.

All that spreading freedom bullshit is just that if it comes down to what benefits us most.

All you are saying is what FOX News whispered into your ear.

The same scumbags that supported our invasion of Iraq on the basis of spreading democracy in the Middle East are now telling us how dangerous democracy is.

You reap what you sow.
