What's going on with Kevin McCarthy? 3 failed votes in 2 days. Is the majority whip completely incompetent or are the House republicans routinely lying to their leadership?

Musicmystery -> RE: What up GOP? (2/10/2011 7:48:51 AM)

Wouldn't it be funny if, because of the Tea Party contingent, it turned out Republicans couldn't do anything without working with Democrats?

That's already happening.

Well, the verdant right has had about a month there with their house super majority, what the fuck have they been doing?

Tort reform...MASSIVE healthcare savings we've heard for lo these many years.......Where's the bill?

Balancing the budget, cutting waste and streamlining government and reducing our deficit.  Wheres the bill?

Jobs Jobs Jobs. Wheres the bill?

Cutting and trimming entitlements and taxes.  Wheres the bill?

Ask yourself this question, is our deficit bigger than it was yesterday?

Since the right doesn't have a super-majority in the House the premise of your post is false.

What ?

All any party needs in the house is a simple majority to introduce and pass new bills. That's what sunk the Gingrich gang's contract 'on' America...they failed miserably as most observers predicted.

Some say the TP's are responsible for the failure to renew the Patriot Act.

There are new dynamics in play, the forces of change are rumbling in the Republican party.

I'm pretty sure that's just gas.

I hear Beano works wonders.

Interesting question. Kevin McCarthy is my Rep. I've met him, heard him speak, and listened through a few of his telephone town halls. He's sharp. He's also been back in the district lately, taking care of obligations here. I suspect he'll be getting more focused on DC in a hurry.

Whip is a hell of a job, and this is going to be a challenging majority to lead. I think he's going to do well.

I'm too busy laughing at all the libs who've been thrown completely off their talking points by the sunset clause in the Patriot Act starting to work its magic.

Which libs and which talking points?

I assume he did a good job in the last Congress as Deputy Whip otherwise he wouldn't have gotten the job. But there does seem to be something seriously wrong with his whip operation or the Speaker isn't listening to him which seems unlikely.

The next round of banker malfeasance will result in the GOP working with Dems to pass the next bailout

mnottertail -> RE: What up GOP? (2/11/2011 6:49:20 AM)

My my my, friday already, another working week wasted.  I guess you gotta ask yourself, are you in more debt than you were 4 days ago?

Since they have already forgotten their written and oft stated pledge to reduce the spending by $100B this year alone and are twatwaffling on proposed money and other tricks to try and dissemble on this.........

So, rather than be about the vital business of the nation, these guys segue into Newt Gingrich (hinting he might run) another bankrupting pledgor who never got higher off the ground than a snake.  Other keynote speakers, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick "the dick" Cheney, and Michelle Bachmann.  At least Bush had the common sense not to show.

TONE DEAF. YOU. CAN'T. MAKE. THIS. SHIT. UP.

Of course they do. Being the minority party means you can sit back and take shots.

Governing, though, is harder than creating sound bites--as every majority party knows.

Moonhead -> RE: What up GOP? (2/11/2011 9:42:19 AM)

Yep.

Just look at the u turn the libdems have done on everything they were voted in on the second they formed a coalition government with the conservatives...

mnottertail -> RE: What up GOP? (2/17/2011 6:33:18 AM)

Well, another Thursday....are you in more debt than you were 4 days ago?

Let us review the week of massive cuts , and how that 100Billion is coming along..........

http://thehill.com/blogs/on-the-money/appropriations/131483-house-passes-bill-to-keep-government-running-through-dec-18

question?  is this revenue neutral as promised? or are we in more debt than we were 4 days ago, because of this?   As I understand this type of appropriation it is off book insofar as budget. (certainly adds to the deficit and the debt). Or am I incorrect in that and the republican house is borrow and spending in plain disregard to their promise?

Hey!!!! How we doin' here guys, you're taking back the country and ending the deficit and putting it to work was all you were on about, and you ain't got one fuckin word to say now, or nothing to do?

Uh, Ron? Weren't you guys going to be ending the War in Iraq back in '06 ('07, technically) before Obama ran on ending it in '08?

How, when starting in 2006, ignorant cowboy vetoed 13 bills trying to stop the financial meltdown and the war ?

Streamlining is efficient, but the WR Grace report commissioned under Reagan was ignored. (And note the source, please, talk about me being even-handed or what?).
