Hey TFB,

As I head to the gym, I wanted to check and see how your walking and gymming was going?

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: ok way to change your tune and be so unsupportive once I do as you say doc (2/13/2011 7:09:54 PM)

Trapped I'm stalled while I am sick stuufed up then sneezing,I don't wanna go spread my nasties to the gym an the nurse wants me resting so I'm not out busting the block, but I'm still eating right, an making smart choices for myself, and I should be back to going by Wednesday. Hopefully .

Ty for checking in though:)

have to respect someone who is going after a goal -- weightloss -- in a really sound manner.
that's pretty cool, Tfb ^_^ and, from a person who tends to get sick from others, THANK YOU for staying home. one problem with jobs that pride people on attendance is that the guy who gets the award for 100% attendance is often the guy who comes in with the flu and passes it to everyone else. =p haha

do you like greek/greekesque salads? this is one i got from my mom --

get some fancy little salad mix, like "spring mix" or "baby greens," whatever. throw in some kalamata olives, halved grape tomatoes, capers, feta cheese, and cucumber, then toss it with a smidge of red wine vinegar+olive oil. (edit: oh yeah -- and red onion if your tummy tolerates it -- sometimes mine does, sometimes i leave it out.)
it's so good, it makes me want to cryyyyyyyyyyyy ♥

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: ok way to change your tune and be so unsupportive once I do as you say doc (2/13/2011 7:22:03 PM)

Lily yeah I hate when sick ppl don't keep their germs to themselves, I only really get sick when sick people give me their ick, like daddy who got the creeping crud from a sick co worker n he then shares the "joy" with me cuz we live in such close quarters. This time tho daddy didn't make me sick tho ironically I think someone at the gym was sick.

I may end up making daddy sick this time, I'm trying not to tho.

Or the time a lady with a realbad flu thought coming to bdsm party thought it approp to stop by for 20 mins to say hi then boogie cuz well she's sick n can't stay long. She made me an 3 others sick, but mine wasn't the flu thank god. She made a hostess an a mod of the group sick n man was the hostess unhappy w/h.

I love salads yes sometimes dun even want no dressing they so damned good alone.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: ok way to change your tune and be so unsupportive once I do as you say doc (2/13/2011 7:29:44 PM)

the "totally veggie" mix is yummy -- i dunno what brand makes it... Dole? or... well i dunno. =p but it's got carrots, red cabbage, a variety of lettuces (mostly romaine i think) and sugar snap peas. it's delightful and springy. ^_^ i've decided that when i want chips, i'm going to get sugar snap peas instead.

you're right -- sometimes dressing just isn't necessary. ^_^

Lilly your greek style salad sounds great, I LOVE capers, like love love love them! One of my favorites meals is grilled swordfish with capers and lemon.

TFB, another tasty way to dress up salads is to use just a drizzle of really good extra virgin olive oil with some balsamic vinegar to taste, a big squeeze of fresh lemon and lots of fresh pepper. That is what I almost always use on my greens, its great. Also, instead of a lower nutrient lettuce, I mix it up and use a lot of baby spinach, or a mix with things like arugula, endive, radicchio, red cabbage, all kinds of things. Don't get stuck in a rut of lettuce only.

Also, your Doctor sounds rather off on her advice. Have you ever seen that show "Ruby"? She was what, 500 pounds? I really liked her spirit and her dedication. Google it and see if you can find some episodes, but anyway, her doctors all told her to exercise.  My man lost almost 80 pounds by walking, changing his diet drastically (he got diagnosed with diabetes) and also joining the gym. He has kept it off and feels 20 years younger. He's 60, if he can do it after a lifetime of poor choices you can. Trust me, you do not want diabetes, I can not stress that enough to you, it's truly horrible.

Stick with it and the people that don't support you, including your Daddy, tell them to kiss your ass and keep on doing what's working. I'm dead serious. This is your life you are talking about, know your worth.

my mom will randomly dream up something awesome and then tell me about it, or she'll go to a restaurant, recreate something, and then tell me about THAT.
hahaha =p
i'd never eaten capers before this latest "you have to try this!" but i have to say i really like them.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: ok way to change your tune and be so unsupportive once I do as you say doc (2/13/2011 8:04:00 PM)

Ayne a lady from my moms old church had both her legs amputated due to diabetic issues then died of ganggreen like 4 days later:( it's some nasty shit yup.

We had some Italian dressing very good stuff low calorie low carb low on sugars too just 2 table spoons does it for me, sometimes all I want or need is 3 lil sprinkles.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: ok way to change your tune and be so unsupportive once I do as you say doc (2/13/2011 8:11:02 PM)

Lily I take inspiration from tv dinners then ask lady n how to do them healthy, same thing with taco bell, you know tb wouldn't be so bad for you immitated at home in a healthy way.

Shoot oneday we were having tuna fish sandwhiches an 2 slices of bread were 60 carbs , I can't have 60 caDBS in one setting, so I took some whole wheat 21 gram fiber 10 g card tortillas an had my tuna fish sandwhich with a tortilla cut off the top extra an I was able to have 2 sandwhiches on one tortilla. I just wrapped it like a burrito. Nobody told me to do that either, it just occured to me, then I told Lady N an she said good job that's a smart choice.

I also on my own came up with the idea to dip raw celery into my yogurt. It's tasty as hell too.

I love them ... plus they're in 2 of my fave dishes of all-time, Steak Tartare and Stewed Squid, so they must be good :)

tftb.. I am SO proud of you :)

barelynangel -> RE: ok way to change your tune and be so unsupportive once I do as you say doc (2/15/2011 4:56:33 PM)

TfTB, i think a lot of people understand because many times especially for people who haven't exercised in a very long time, the hardest thing is getting started.  You have done great and now you need to keep moving forward.  There will be times you hurt, you are tired, you are just lazy, or don't feel good etc.  As long as you do a little bit every day, you will start seeing changes and more important feeling changes.  You should be very proud of yourself.

As for things other than high bad carb breads and such for eating tunafish or chicken salad or really any type of sandwish, try those huge romaine lettuce leafs.  They make great substitutes for sandwiches.

Also on a day you want to use more dressing -- you can always add a little bit of ice cold water to the 2 tbsp, and it will go farther.

Keep up the great work and keep moving forward!!

angel
