i used to be Mormon. If i still was, my involvement in BDSM would be in conflict with my religion, regardless of whether i was a slave or a submissive or a bottom. Mostly it would be in conflict because because of the church's rules about chastity and sexual conduct. (i.e. sex outside of marriage is prohibited, as well as a slew of other things like mastrubation, groping and passionate kissing outside of marriage, pornography, voyeurism, nudity, etc.) Now, it's possible to have a Master/slave relationship that does NOT violate those rules. However, i suspect any BDSM relationship, sexual or not, would be prohibited if the Mormon church were to find out about it. Married Mormons who are involved in BDSM usually hide it, i think, because they believe the church would disaprove if they didn't condemn it outright. So, to answer the question- i don't think Mormonism can be reconciled with BDSM. i don't know about other religions. i suspect that there are religions where the M/s dynamic doesn't conflict with religious doctrine. There are many people believe in God without practising a specific religion. And then there are those religions who think it's a sin, but believe in forgiveness of sins. pam
