Im half native american, you moron. Go talk to someone else about race. I understand far more than you ever will about racism.

jack8007 -> RE: Arizona is at it again (2/16/2011 8:07:45 PM)

so do you want "most nations" to have a vote on American law?

maybe we should just ask for UN approval.

Yes we are! Sadly, illegals are crushing us in increased crime and costs associated with their presence. They also lower the overall standard of living. We simply can't afford this any longer. To those who argue we need these people to pick produce, I would argue we do not. Most of Europe picks crops by machine. Many farm operators use illegals because they are cheaper and here's why: right before a pay day, somebody drops a dime on them and the ICE picks up the illegals, unpaid. Kinda like slave labor, wouldn't you say? It simply is not a intensive labor industry, unless you want to go on the cheap.

tazzygirl -> RE: Arizona is at it again (2/16/2011 8:16:26 PM)

What? you cant find something else to slam me for?

You tried race... and failed misreably.

You tried questioning my intelligence. Failed once again.

Whats next? Questioning my orientation?

Germany changed their policy... as did many developed countries. Amazingly, we are one of the few who still use the old rules. Just like with health care, its time we came up for air from the old laws and actually caught up with the rest of the civilized world.

Actually, the illegals I do know are hard working and caring men who give an honest days labor for an honest days work and would never harm anyone. So I disagree they are lowering our standard of living. In many ways, I see them elevate it.

Im going to tell you a little story that is unfolding at my work place right now. My restaurant is being audited by Wage Commission... a part of the Labor Department.

He knows about the illegals... but thats not why he is there. It is his job to make sure those employees who work get paid the wages that are due them. They worked for it, they should get it. And I agree with this man 110%.

Many illegals are known to do jobs no american seems to want to do. Wasnt it Colbert who offered jobs on a produce farm to any american who showed up... and none did? But the vast majority of illegals now work indoors... restaurants, offices, cleaning companies, retail, ect. Still more are in construction jobs. Stop painting them as a lettuce picker. Thats demeaning to them and to yourself for that bit of ignorance.

PilotPTK -> RE: Arizona is at it again (2/16/2011 8:24:28 PM)

Under the proposed law, illegal immigration is a felony, punishable by up to two years in prison. Immigrants who are deported and attempt to re-enter can be imprisoned for 10 years. Visa violators can be sentenced to six-year terms. Locals who help illegal immigrants are considered criminals.

The proposed law also says foreigners who are deemed detrimental to “economic or national interests,” violate law, are not “physically or mentally healthy” or lack the “necessary funds for their and their dependents sustenance” can be deported.

How's that sound for a bill that could be introduced?

tazzygirl -> RE: Arizona is at it again (2/16/2011 8:31:55 PM)

Under the Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony, punishable by up to two years in prison. Immigrants who are deported and attempt to re-enter can be imprisoned for 10 years. Visa violators can be sentenced to six-year terms. Mexicans who help illegal immigrants are considered criminals.

http://newswithviews.com/Cutler/michael185.htm

So you want Mexico's law to be our own? As far as the last line, that is already in our laws.

Punishment for illegal re-entry after deportation depends on your prior convictions (or any new crimes committed after entering the U.S. illegally), but may include:

The maximum penalty is 2 years in prison if you have no felony convictions
The penalty is up to 10 years if you have prior felonies on your record (or three or more misdemeanors)
If you were convicted of an aggravated felony and were caught for illegal re-entry, the prison sentence may be up to 20 years.

PilotPTK -> RE: Arizona is at it again (2/16/2011 8:35:13 PM)

Nope, I'm not interested in copy-catting.. I actually was just looking forward to pointing out that those 'horrible terms' ARE the law - in Mexico.

Illegal Immigrants, to me, are, most importantly - ILLEGAL. Immigrate, By all Means! Immigrate LEGALLY.

tazzygirl -> RE: Arizona is at it again (2/16/2011 8:37:50 PM)

Ok.. so the question is... lets say we start requiring legal means only.. and we find a way to enforce that without infringing upon any other laws... and everyone is happy with the new immigration laws, ect ect ect.....

What do we do with those who are already here?

the better question is, tazzy, what do we do with the thousands that continue to enter every minute of every day, as I sit here and type these words.

It ain't as if they have stopped coming.

too funny

I prefer, what do we do with the millions here, and the many million MORE that will be here, IF we ever do anything period.

By that time, I will say hell, why bother?
I say let everyone in the world in here.

Let's just become part of Latin America, a bonified and eventually CERTIFIED 3rd world country, and lets rock and roll.

tazzygirl -> RE: Arizona is at it again (2/16/2011 8:52:33 PM)

Pft, you missed the hypothetical part

lol as IF, there will be some end point to decide.

Its the big elephant in the room topic, that most people don't want to SERIOUSLY really talk about.

I am thinking amnesty tazzy, at the end of of the day.

jack8007 -> RE: Arizona is at it again (2/16/2011 8:58:14 PM)

The only thing I would slam you for tazzy is your problem with maths, and your following assumptions that you have proved anybody or anything wrong.

Repeat after me - rate is not to be confused with any absolute number.

No, I don't think your generalized race fears are notably worse than most people.   But why else would you worry about Koreans dropping kids in the USA?  Tribalism is not entirely bad - certainly I put my family before others.   But I also expect them to deal with others, because I see little choice, and choose to believe that they should learn fairness.

Given that there are tours for all sorts of things,  I could certainly imagine birth tours.   But I wouldn't advise it, because I think it's a conspiracy to an illegal entry, and frankly, I think we have many more serious problems.

Yes, health care is one.   But I put 1st responsibility for that on the people who run the show, not those just along for the ride.

And we have discussed how people come to work for entrepreneurs who are only trying to keep your prices down, even if the costs may come around somewhere else - so I suggest everybody who participates in the economy is complicit.

No, I don't think we should change the 14th amendment, because I don't think the constitution should be lightly changed, and I prefer to lock a person up for violating the law, over rearranging the result of our civil war.   Because I don't think we should lightly fool with the foundation of our country.   Too many bad things can happen.

I'm not afraid of foreigners - because I'm confident of our ability to deal with them.    We all started out as foreigners, including whatever native ancestors you had, and whether we work with them or against them, it's probably better to have them in the open.

I would be happy to trade the Mexicans a million of their randomly selected citizens for a million of our convicts - but of course they are not that stupid.   Perhaps you know of the Marielitos, when Castro did exactly that to us, and emptied his prisons in response to our offer of refuge.  But again, my estimate of a person's value has almost nothing to do with their place of birth or parentage - and a lot of that is because that was my observation in the Marines, and I became very protective of people who were loyal to me, I don't give a good goddamn where they came from, only cared that they could be relied on.
