Speaking of outsiders sticking their noses in

Mr. Walker also bristled at comments by President Barack Obama that his bill "seems like more of an assault" on unions. "When your budget is fixed, you can stick your nose in ours," Mr. Walker said. "But in the meantime, let us fix our budget the way we said we were going to."

I like that. Again, walker for president!

Hundreds of people protesting on the sidewalk in front of your home would probably be called a "mob", no?

No, it would be called people protesting.

Reading your own links before posting them saves embarrassment.

That made Me LMFAO. I always used to freakin LOVE it when the Dade County PS folks would tell Me what my total compensation package was worth.

The bean counters would pull numbers out of their left asscheek and try to make us feel good about not being able to pay our mortgage.

One of My favorite numbers was our prescription plan. It was valued at about 10K.
That was based on 100% utilization which NOONE used because if you were THAT damn sick, you wouldn't be walking upright, much less teaching.

Want to make teaching better? Get rid of all the Educrats. All those drones downtown that do nothing but sit on their asses, create work for each other in a 'paperwerk circlejerk" and pull triple the salary of the average teacher and tell those in the classroom how to do their job even though they have never been there.

If One principal and 2 VP's could handle the administration of 150 or so teachers and 3500 students (at My last HS), why did it take over a THOUSAND admin staff to handle the supervision for 250 or so principals in the county system?

If those admins that are surplussed want to keep jobs, put em in the classroom to replace retiring teachers.

I don't think I've ever heard a Governor speak that way to a President.

Good for him!!!!!

The taxpayer paid bean counters in the video were referring to the actual cost per teacher to the taxpayers.

That exact thinking needs to be applied to the federal workforce, including the military. Keep the worker bees/shooters, fire 2/3 of the managers/officers/ admin staff.

All I saw was some fat chick with a laptop making claims.
For all we know, she could have been taking the total budget for the system, dividing it by the # of teachers and saying "Each teacher costs us X Dollars."

Let's face some reality here.

This is not just Wisconsin but several other states with this in the works.

It is a concerted effort by Republicans to break unions.

In a time when the middle class is stagnating and the gap between the wealthiest Americans and the rest of the nation keeps increasing I have to wonder why anyone would see this as something good.

Similar legislation is being considered here in TN but it isn't getting any press.

TN is a "Right to Work State" which means you don't have to join a union to work. It is probably not a coincidence that we are one of the half dozen or so states that are NOT in serious financial trouble at this time.

Poor poor union goons, nobody loves them any more.

quote:

Most Americans don’t support unions for public workers: poll

Clarus' nationwide study found that 64 percent of American people think state workers should not be able to join labor unions.

Another 29 percent believe that d government employees should be represented by unions that bargain for higher pay, benefits and pensions.

The survey also uncovered a deep divide along party lines-- Republicans and independents strongly oppose unionization for government employee. Indeed, only 10 percent of Republicans and 23 percent of independents support the right of public employees to be represented by unions.

Right. Unions of public servants, who figure they are entitled to a better deal than the public they were hired to serve.

It could get ugly in Madison today. There's something about a drum circle that pisses the rednecks off to begin with, but when they are beating the drum for their "right" to reach into said redneck's wallet...

The tea party members who are in Madison didn't call in sick to attend. The lazy teachers in Wisconsin have even upset the liberal parents when schools were shut down for 3 days..
