But then you don't really care do you?  You are just grateful to have a job.

No, he isn't breaking any laws. My job comes under an agricultural designation, and the rules are different. If you think I didn't check that, you are quite mistaken.

States fucked up with the pension plans. Now they want those paying into those plans to pay for their fuck ups. What happened to going after the perpetrators instead of the victims?

Actually, the ones paying into the plan...as noted...are taxpayers. For every $ 57.00 that the taxpayers pay into the benefit plan...along with what they pay into health care and salary...the public sector employees pay a whole $ 1.00. Under the new plan, they would have to contribute up to $10.00 of that $ 57.00. Wooooooooo-hooooooooo!

And whereas the taxpayers pay 27% towards their own health care plans...if their company has one...the public sector employees pay approximately 14 %.

Anybody else wish they had that kind of deal?

I find it ironic that you don't realize people take public sector jobs for the security and benefits.
It is certainly not for the extravagant salaries.
And when those benefits are cut who do you think will take those low-paying jobs?
I worked a public sector job, as a private contractor, for 7 years. The guys on my crew were paid very well for what they did, and most had only a high school education. As for security, yep, they had that. It took the shop supervisor over 6 months of documentation, warnings, counseling sessions, etc to fire one guy who was completely incompetent, and that happened only after he had been transferred to every shop and no one else would take him.

I see that CD actually saw where I was going with that.

quote:

So your point is you have a really shitty job and apparently don't have the desire to find something better, so you are bitter and angry that others receive more than you?
No, my point was that before the economy tanked, I had a good job that paid well. When the bottom fell out, I had to take what I could get to pay my bills. I am hardly the only one in this circumstance, as you may or may not have noticed. Pretty much everyone is having to tighten their belts right now, and I simply don't think that asking public sector employees to contribute a fairly small amount towards their own health care and retirement is asking too much. What is the alternative, raise taxes on those people who are currently having problems making ends meet?

As for having no desire to find something better, you are quite wrong about that.

Why should they take it in the ass when they bargained in good faith and got a contract. If the company(state of Wi) wants to renegotiate then they should set down and talk about it. Legislating it out of existence is just wrong.

Sanity -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/18/2011 11:26:22 AM)

Because the state is flat broke and without renegotiating there will be mass layoffs?

There is no money.

jlf1961 -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/18/2011 11:27:08 AM)

Funny thing is that the unions that supported the present governor are exempt from this legislation.

Sounds like someone has a political ax to grind, and is making those who did not support him pay for it out the ass.

DomYngBlk -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/18/2011 11:27:53 AM)

Then the state has to raise money..no? or are you saying the state has no means to raise revenue?

Amen, and he is getting his finger poked back into his eye. Think maybe he might be realizing the shit storm he has caused in a blue collar union state?

pahunkboy -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/18/2011 11:30:26 AM)

The thing is we are not actually broke.   Refer to the consolidated  report-  not the garbage they SAY is the financial statement.

There is no talk here of renegotiation.

there appears to be at least 150K to pay the governor, and 50K per head to pay each of the 119 legislators not to mention the other officers, lt guv and so on, and 175k apiece for scwjustices, just to name a few.

So, when they are willing to throw in a little sacrifice from those ramparts, they will be talking about some real savings, huh?

Sanity -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/18/2011 11:33:40 AM)

The taxpayers have voted, and this is the direction they chose to go. Why do union supporters always want to kill the goose that lays the golden egg? We see this time and time again. You can only raise taxes so much before you begin strangling the economy.

Ever play the old computer game SimCity? It works a lot like that game. Sure, you can pave the streets with gold if you want, if you raise taxes high enough. But then the people wont have enough money to eat they will begin to riot.

servantforuse -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/18/2011 11:36:35 AM)

Raising revenues means raising taxes. That is what the last election was all about for those not paying attention. That is the reason the dems were replaced.

DomYngBlk -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/18/2011 11:37:19 AM)

Well by that reasoning then...you aren't the same insanity that was complaining about the health care plan and the stimulus package are you? I mean since the people "voted" for that in 2008 you would naturally stand aside..right?

Sanity -> RE: SCOTT WALKER for President (2/18/2011 11:37:57 AM)

Red herring, mnot. There are around 30,000 public service employees in Wisconsin drawing comperable wages, and only one governor and 119 legislators. So even if the elected officials gave up their entire salaries it wouldnt be a drop in the bucket, comparatively.

Then the company(state) is basically fucked. Breaking the bargaining agreement will probably land in court cause I don't think the legislature can do it.....And management doesn't want to create a better revenue stream. As I see it...it isn't the workers fault....fault lies with the Gov. ....raise revenues...problem solved. Next!

I didnt go around rioting, trying to intimidate peoples' families, closing down entire school districts and fire departments etc.

Me exercising my right to freedom of speech is vastly different than what we are seeing in Wisconsin, dum.

I wouldn't worry about that: you always imagine the sound of American libertarians' blood boiling whenever they start talking about public sector workers. (These are people who had the big society long before David Cameron and his gimp started trying to justify that one, and look how well it's working for them.)

Don't think the teabaggers have intimated people? How about your buddy loughner...think he did? You just can't admit that what is good for one should be good for the other. I hope they drag that fucker out of the state house and use him like a bitch
