We all love 'em, we all care about them, they bring us joy, unconditional love, moments of despair and agony, but still, we feel blessed to have them in our lives...at least, thats what becomes apparent on the forums...and as the saying goes...dogs have owners, cats have servants [8|] though with some dogs and cats that might not even be the case [;)]

So how old are our collarme masters and mistresses? I mean, the furry ones....of course....and how many do you serve [8|]

Multiple answers are allowed, as I know that many of us serve many of them [8|]

My Min. Pinscher is 6 years old.

I have currently 5 and they are 7 months, 21 months, two are almost 4 years old and the other one is about 5 [:)]

The bloodhound is about 10. the pup will be a year old in a couple of months more or less. (both rescues to I really dont know)

twistedwillow -> RE: How old are our charminging Masters and Mistresses? (2/19/2011 3:12:56 PM)

The 2 kitties are nearly 4 months old, the dogs are 4 and a half and 5, and the birdies are 6 and 7

So 6 very demanding owners.

The birdies are equally as bossy as the others could ever be.

my five year old is also a rescue, he was homeless at a work place and my two almost 4 year olds were very annoyed when I allowed him to move in [8|]

thats why I thought to allow the option in case someone has no real idea about the age. As he was guessed at that time from my vet and his mum was simillar guessed from her vet (of course 6+ months older) I take it as pretty accurate, or accurate enough.

and thanks twistedwillow to remind me of other demanding owners out there [;)]

Well, I should have done the math before I answered the question - we do have one who is 2-3 ... oops lol

The dogs:
Ray is 6
Pandi is 4.5
Anarchy is 4
Alchemy is 2.5
Lammy and Evan are just under 2
Evie, Edgar, Edmond, and Eddy are 3 days old

The cats:
Grendel is 6.5
MIA is just under 6
Fernando and Gwen are both approximately 10 months

The birds:
chickens are all under 1 year
Lemmy (budgie) is just over 3 years, I think

The rabbits:
Omlette and Benedict are both just under 2 years

The rats are from 3 weeks to 3 years, the fish are all about a year old, and only one of the guinea pigs is over a year ... I think he's about 14 months at this point.

I think that's all of our zoo lol

OMG wow SweetDommes, that's certainly a zoo. Thank you for sharing [:)]

I only became curious about our furries age as I realised recently that my 2 first cats here are now almost four which made me shake my head how long i have them already....

I don't have any pets. Ginger was the last and she's going to be the last for at least 2 years to come if I have my way.

I am glad there are so many rescues on the board.

My own are rescues as well, the 2 dogs from the RSPCA, and the kittens are 2 of 4 that I saved from being drowned and hand raised them.

Oh yeah, we're nuts out here in the boonies LOL

And just wait a year or two, we'll have more. We're currently at about 25 chickens, but we'll be getting more now that spring is approaching (FINALLY!!), and Holly wants to get mini-goats and maybe a cow or two.

KB, my oldest, is 11 years old, the two middle boys are 8 and Squeaks is about 3.  Wow, time does fly.....it seems like just yesterday I got them....KB from a farm for Shiloh, Smooch and Boo are 2 of 4 I got at a garage sale....couldn't make up my mind, so my then roomie said take 'em all.  I got Squeaks from a friend of a friend who was thinning her herd of 8.

All my family's cats and dogs are rescues.....my dad's dog was actually referred to them by the pound.  The two cats they have were 2 of 3 kittens they had at the time.  My mom thought my dad would have a cow about her bringing home 2 kittehs when she went, so she left the 3rd sibling behind.  She told my dad, and he's like "And you left the third one WHY???".  She went back the next day to get him, but someone beat her to it.

THe only non-rescue is my sister's chocolate lab, Koda.  He's a hoot....about 120 lbs, and no one can convince him he's not a lap dog!  I think he's 5 now....my sis is hoping he matures soon.....he's a holy terror.....but he's a real character!  My brother in law had always wanted a chocolate lab, so my sister got one from a breeder.  A GOOD breeder!

soul2share -> RE: How old are our charminging Masters and Mistresses? (2/19/2011 4:07:35 PM)

Winnie, looking at her picture I can just hear her say "Yes, don't hate me because I'm beautiful!"  [:)]

But what is she sitting on?

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: How old are our charminging Masters and Mistresses? (2/19/2011 4:13:51 PM)

Misty is 15 years old and Angel is 4 1/2.  Both of these kitty girls showed up on my door step and never left, though I tried very diligently to track down whoever owned them before.  I suspect they were abandoned.

My rescue kitty, Lily, may she rest in peace, was 11 1/2 when she went to kitty heaven last week.

I alao have a "foster son", Dusty, who was an abandonded, ill, and starving kitten when he showed up under the tree in my yard in 2009.  After I nursed him back to health, he went to live with my neighbor, but he does visit me often.  He's around 2.

BurntKitty -> RE: How old are our charminging Masters and Mistresses? (2/19/2011 4:14:04 PM)

I found Cossette at 4 weeks (yes, weeks) old about 6 years ago. It was almost a year to the day that we found Zelda. I told my son no more helpless stray kittens. Zelda was healthy, clean and still adores my son. Cossette was FeLV positive (a weak positive) had fleas, belly parasites & ear mites. If I brought her to a shelter, she's be a statistic. 6 years & over $600 in vet bills later, she was given a clean bill of health, and was listed as "chunky" when weighed by the vet.

I am also in charge of my father's elderly cats. Dad passed away last year, and his 15 & 16 yr old cats live in my 3 bedroom condo that does allow 1 cat. Ssshhhh.... They all kinda get along.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: How old are our charminging Masters and Mistresses? (2/19/2011 4:16:25 PM)

He is sitting on the arm of my couch. He thinks he's a lapdog, and likes to sit on his butt on my furniture like his lowly people do.

SorceressJ -> RE: How old are our charminging Masters and Mistresses? (2/19/2011 4:18:46 PM)

This is our clan leader and grand old man, AstroCat. He's 6 and a half. He is also a rescue (when he was small and blue-eyed and alone on the streets of a neighboring town. I brought him home in a shirt pocket. Obviously, he no longer fits in there..). He once applied for membership to the online Gorean Larl Club (for those not versed in the insanity of Gor: Larls are these very large and ferocious cat-like creatures they supposedly have on that planet, rather like saber-tooth cats of Urth, I mean Earth, only much larger). Astro is now mostly feral, is considerably more battle-scarred now than in this photo (which is a couple of years old), and only comes home every other day or so for a square meal that he doesn't have to catch on the fly, as it were. All the rest of my cats, except for two other rescues, are his children and grandchildren.

We also have a big, friendly white rat, name of Master Splinter (so named after the sensei from Ninja Turtles). He's almost 2.
