hi everyone

ok i've seen many humblers online and always for a lot of money considering it is basically just two bits of wood, so i was woundering if anyone knew where i could find instructions on building my own?

i know you can make one with chopsticks and rubber bands but i'm looking at making a proper one the only thing is i don't know what length, the type/radius of the curves etc... to put in it?

I made mine by just estimating the curves. The length was also a rough estimation. Thickness and the hole size was done by trial and error, took a basic measurement off of a ball weight and then changed it till it worked. That one I made out of pine, but am getting ready to start on one made out of oak. If you need I can take measurements.

Haii all.

I've never heard this term "humbler" before.
Would anyone mind explaining what it is/does ?

Sorry it took me an extra day to get done measuring it all. Again take this and make adjustments as you need it, this one ended up with a lot of changes from my initial sketch that I made to the finished product. Same using different materials requires changes as well. The next one that I am making out of oak will be locking, have hinges, and will be much thinner than this one which is made out of pine. This was originally a project to see if I could do it and have it come out decently.

Total length is 16 1/2 inches
Total height is 2 3/8 inches
Total width is 2 1/2 inches with each half at 1 1/4 inches (when i do this in oak it will only be about 2 inches wide)
Total weight is 1 lb 2.6 oz US

If you can't make out any of the measurements on the drawing let me know and I will add them in here later.

Thank you, I hope that the things I learned making this helps for your project. After a move I am just getting the tools that I wanted for my shop and the weather is getting better. So I will be working on my new humbler which will be made out of red oak, and will have a hidden hinges and a lock. I should be starting in another week or two on it. Will post as it goes. Always up for helping another kinky fabricator.
