I'm with NuevaVida on this, FB is not a kink site and a lot of business colleagues and vanilla friends are linked to my FB, also lot's of companies google you and check out your FB before giving you a job, I don't want any kink stuff on my FB, I'd consider that as much abuse as vanilla people coming to CM and starting personal ads for knitting classes or church meetings...

I agree, although I think anyone who uses the internet to get personal information off people is weird.

Guys, read the article! The group was set to PRIVATE, little kiddies were not gaining access to it. Further, apparently there were no explicit photos there AND apparently gay and trans groups have also been targeted. Do we really want to go there especially if FB claims to be all-inclusive?

Yes, Google, the government, detectives, Her Majesty's Inland Revenue... All weird...

"I really do not have a problem with how others use facebook, but I kinda like that it is a sexuality free zone. From my perspective it is hard enough to integrate the differing aspects of my life on facebook without throwing my sex life into the mix. facebook lacks the sort of privacy in friend's lists, etc, that is needed for me to use it for this purpose. I do not want to hide myself on facebook and I use it to further my professional life (yes, schmoozing on facebook is good for your career).

How other people choose to use it is fine by me, but I would be likely to take people who used facebook in such ways openly off my friends list. "

I very much agree with the first persons response to this thread. I will also say that yeah I'm on facebook too but only those I know I invite onto my page to be a friend and it's private so noone else can view things on it.
I have a huge family and some of my cousins children are on it and their between 16 and up to 24.
My own mother doesn't even know that I've been into this stuff ever since I met my Dom nearly 4 years ago.
If my mother ever found out about this being an interest of mine, she'd not only freak out but I'd loose privilege of seeing any friend I have ever made kinky or non kinky!

A few months ago myself and my mum were inside and an add for this programme came up that was about BDSM and in it there was a guy holding two leads that were on two other guys collars. I was just "oh shit!" My mam can't understand it at all and thats because she didn't learn about anything like that for many many years! I was surprised when she told me last year that she did watch the Rocky Horror picture show and she thought it was well done. She said to me when I came home after watching the rocky horror picture show "So did you like it?". I said "The musical numbers were great and the actors were good so yes I did like it!". I nearly fell in horror when she walked into my room before I got to put cuffs, a whip and a black top hat away for her not to see and she looked at me saying "Have you something to tell me?" I just laughed and said No, it's just costume stuff! Then she started to say "I'd be a good Domme, yeah no joke!" She said "I could even make you some dresses for your next party!" I just laughed as she did when she walked outta the room!Thats when myself and my dom decided that if I was to get anymore dresses that it'd have to be kept at his place!

I would also lose my future husband and thats not something I ever want to happen!
I guess the problems facebook have about it is that most vanilla people would be horrified to learn that their kids were looking at that.
I think well as long as the parent has an open mind to hearing about that kind of stuff, it's grand if their children ever ask about it!

Kinky is like the new gay, and it'll take a while for the vanilla world to open up to accepting it.  So FB is sex and kinky-free, so?  That's why we're here on CM!
