They didn't solve it as much as made it worse. Bush presided over a complete decimation of our economy. When we was done, we had a record debt and high unemployment.

The Dems have chosen to shelve the debt for now, while hoping to kick the economy out of the doldrums. I sure as hell hope it works.

Note that fixing the debt (not deficit, which is simply the annual cash flow, while the debt reflects the accumulation of it) is trivial, but fixing it without incurring massive issues is hard.

You want to fix the debt. Simple, close the loopholes in the corporate tax codes that allow multi-BILLION dollar corporations pay zero in taxes.
