Lucylastic -> Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 12:51:35 PM)

http://www.indystar.com/article/20110222/NEWS/110222004/House-Democrats-flee-Indiana-stop-votes

Seats on one side of the Indiana House were nearly empty today as House Democrats departed the the state rather than vote on anti-union legislation.A source tells the Indianapolis Star that Democrats are headed to Illinois, though it was possible some also might go to Kentucky. They need to go to a state with a Democratic governor to avoid being taken into police custody and returned to Indiana. The House came into session twice this morning, with only three of the 40 Democrats present. Those were needed to make a motion, and a seconding motion, for any procedural steps Democrats would want to take to ensure Republicans don’t do anything official without quorum. With only 58 legislators present, there was no quorum present to do business. The House needs 67 of its members to be present.

It seems as though democrats are on the run and in hiding all over the midwest. Go back to work and do what you were elected to do. What a bunch of dopes.

Obama said you should stop with the nasty rhetoric.

Obama didnt say anything to me, and, I would take your own advice is I were you...
"Its better than shooting people" is nasty rhetoric?

It's funny watching the republicans reaping what they sowed.

It's no longer acceptable to dems using terms like 'shoot' and 'in the cross hairs'.. How long are those democrats going to stay in hiding ? 2 weeks, 2 months, maybe 2 years until the election in 2012 ?

Moonhead -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 1:24:05 PM)

It's just Democrats who find that unacceptable since the shootings? I thought the Repukes were down on that as well: caribou Barbie has definitely changed her website (and her tune) and backtracked something rotten over that, hasn't she? She's retreating, not reloading now, it seems...

A shooting is a shooting wether dems approve or not, she was shot , the verb is shoot...
12 people were shot six people were killed,
so maybe "Its better than killing people" is not nasty rhetoric???

12 people hurt and six fatally is less nasty?
Shot and killed is the truth, its not rhetoric

Are the Dems out to shut down all levels of govt in the US?   Come time to vote on something and they run away.    Just sayin

Uh, it may escape your attention, these little nuances, but they ARE casting their vote.

I'm sure we'll be hearing a lot about recall election law in Indiana soon.
Then Ohio. Tough as Walker has been, Kasich is at least his match.
Going to be an interesting political season... culminating in the budget battle. These are just the opening skirmishes.

Political theater at its finest. These guys seem like pretty fuckin inept managers at the moment, we will stay tuned for the next installment.

Maybe the House republicans should have left the country last December to avoid a vote on Obama's health care bill. Instead they stayed and did their job knowing they were in the minority. These dems should do the right thing and go back to work.

mnottertail -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 3:05:25 PM)

They left the country for the last two years, thats all the fuck they did was vote no.  Hardly doing their jobs is it?

truckinslave -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 3:07:42 PM)

IMO Mitch Daniels just lost any hope of winning any Republican primary for President. He fucked himself but good. Victory: Indiana Dims.
Bye Bye Mitch

mnottertail -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 3:09:40 PM)

Oh, is he the guy that wrote that lying poll headline for Rassmussen?

KenDckey -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 3:31:01 PM)

If you walk off the job and leave the state are you doing your job?   And leaving the state is not voting no, it is job abandonment unless for an authorized reason, like taking vacation, going to a convention, etc.   Running away so you don't have to vote isn't one.   I say they should have a special election and fill the seats.

mnottertail -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 3:32:40 PM)

So, you are all for prosecuting Bush for spending inordinate time at Crawford?
I await your doing something about it.

KenDckey -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 3:36:30 PM)

So last I heard, when he was Gov, Crawford was in his home state.   When he was pres he took vacations there.   What grounds would I have?

Although it may exist someplace, I haven't seen how many vacation days a Pres can have.  Sometimes I think some of them spent their entire term on vacation.
