He absented himself from the whitehouse, which means according to you he walked off the job. Your words, not mine.  These legislators feel that absenting themselves is the correct response to the situation in their respective states and doing the work of their constituency.

Wasn't there a song written about this ? " dems on the run, dems on the run ".

mnottertail -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 3:43:10 PM)

No, you are thinking of the song:

You can republican but you can't hide........

only in your head

You should go back and reread the post.   I believe it said for   oh never mind    you won't believe me anyway.

mnottertail -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 3:54:36 PM)

If you walk off the job and leave the state are you doing your job?

Oh, I get it, rhetorical. Not meant to withstand an answer.

KenDckey -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 3:58:44 PM)

If you walk off the job then the answer is no.   if you go away for official business or vacation or some other authorized reason (I don't believe not wanting to vote is one) then you are good and the answer is yes you are doing your job.   I have a hard time believeing that stopping government is doing their job.   Vote no,   That is what they get paid for.   Least last I heard it was.   Did they change that someplace?

mnottertail -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 4:08:01 PM)

Then we have a very different view of whether or not they are doing the will of the people that elected them, insofar as they are able.

And what you believed to be the only way of doing that job was set in stone, no, you missed alot.

Insofar as I can see, there is nothing illegal, there are remedies available to the opposition as truckin has shown, and we must let the democratic process unfold itself, not knowing the certainty of any one particular outcome.

servantforuse -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 4:11:04 PM)

Since they are the new minority party, they are doing the will of a minority of the voters in Wisconsin.

mnottertail -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 4:13:00 PM)

if thats who the fuck elected them..........that is sort of what a representative government is about...I think even in state constitutions its legal to represent your constituents to the best of your ability.

Guess it doesnt matter that if the vote goes Walker's way, the Koch brothers can win no bid contracts.

But combing through Walker's bill, Sullivan finds measures that don't square with the governor's stated agenda of fiscal conservatism: a "combination of no bid sales to corporations, exemptions for public sector unions like cops and firefighters who backed his election, and simultaneous tax cuts for the successful." Given the Koch connection, Sullivan writes, "the more I read, the shadier and more ideological Walker seems."

There are 114 local police and fire dept unions in Wisconsin. 4 of these locals supported Scott Walker. The other 110 supported his opponent Tom Barrett. In no way is he paying back the police and fire unions for support that was not there. I do agree that they should be included in the bill.

Way to go Democrats, showcase for the world how you kiss special interest groups ass.

You represent big unions, not the taxpayers, not the common citizen. Your lobbyists!

Everyones watching you, too.

Way to go.

Sorry, but the state leadership of the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Association endorsed Walker, the same man has also gone on record recently saying that he "regretted his decision to do so." Two other state employee unions supported Walker, and the three are not covered in this legislation.

Three Union leaders endorsed Walker, and all three unions are exempt. Sounds like typical right wing republican operations:

Bust the unions that don't support Republicans.

servantforuse -> RE: Indiana Democrats trigger Statehouse showdown over anti-union legislation (2/22/2011 7:24:25 PM)

All of the police and fire unions are exempt. Even the 100 plus that opposed him. Doesn't sound like payback to me.

Didnt Walker threaten to call out the National Guard over this issue?

Maybe the House republicans should have left the country last December to avoid a vote on Obama's health care bill. Instead they stayed and did their job knowing they were in the minority. These dems should do the right thing and go back to work.

They even stated (several times I might add), that if the health care bill was changed to their suggestions) they would vote for its passage. Well, the Democrats did that, and the Republicans promptly voted against it. There by eliminating any remaining credibility they might have had. Soon after that, they became know as 'The Party of No'.

How limited your brain must be, not to know 'long term' US History....

...It was only ten months ago.

How about that war in Iraq with a price tag of $3 Trillion dollars?

One of my friends who served over there for two tours, stated he was told to give his laundry to one of the 'Bush Appointed' companies. He stated a 'bag' costed the taxpayer $120; where as he stated he could do all the laundry himself for about $14. There were a lot of sleazy programs like this going on, under the Bush Administration. Including all the 'No-Bid' contracts that went to Halliburton. I guess Halliburton got those contracts 'straight up' without knowing anyone that worked in the White House, right? *COUGH*Dick Cheney*COUGH*

Republicans kiss more special interest ass then Democrats, by a factor of 40:1. How many Republicans would have their job, if they publically dissed Rush Limbaught or called Sarah Palin a slut?

And what makes up Unions, Sanity? US Citizens! And what are US Citizens often know as? T-A-X-P-A-Y-E-R-S. Do Unions represent extremely rich people, or those that in the low and middle class? What does this country have alot of (by population)? Low and Middle Class US Citizens. If you want to bitch about lobbyist, you best go look at those Republicans your defending.

Actually, No, quite the opposite, in that passive denial is far better than threatening violence and shoooting people,, and that the repubs are reaping what they have sown sonce the start of the 2008 election campaign.
The twitter death threats are probably his buddies trying to make lefties look responsible, like that chick who said someone carved BO on her face, back in the election
hey if you can make dumbass spin so can I
but hey, shouldnt we wait for proof of guilt?
Oh btw? you may keep repeating it, but union members are taxpayers, as are all the people who are working in the public sector, I believe they are also citizens, ordinary working people.. An inconvenient truth for you I know and it must stick in your craw. Careful you dont choke on your bile there
