FR:

What's amazing to me (well, no, not really) is that the "liberals" on the board and in life, who wish us to believe that they hold the concepts of dignity and freedom most dear to their hearts are also the first to condemn any actions which can lead to those conditions for anyone else but themselves.

They are also often the ones who claim national sovereignty as out-dated and harmful, and something that should be discarded, yet then avidly use the concept to castigate the United States for its "violation" of Iraq's.

How many mutual exclusive thoughts can they hold in their head at the same time, and believe, without their heads exploding?

Many, many apparently.

I have no idea how accurate the linked article is. But if there is any truth in it, then it suggests Pakistan is next on the list but for entirely different reasons to those to the Middle East.

perhaps in your haste to post a banal answer you did not read what you wrote, because nobody was defending chavez for being the fourth largest oil supplier to the US unless it was>>>>>>>> (c'mon, I know you got this)  and I find it is now the nutsuckers who pretend they dislike Gaddaffi (now) when they were sucking his nuts in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and beyond, for oil.

It does no good to point out the truth to people on the right, they will deny it even when given documented evidence.

Bush renewed diplomatic ties with Libya, even though there were various problems with doing so, most notably the fact that Libya was holding six foreign medics condemned to death in Libya on charges they infected hundreds of children with the virus that causes AIDS

Indeed no one defends Chavez for being the 4th largest anything.......

The leftists in here, and in the media have defended Chavez and his socialist "revolution" for years. Too many threads to count.

You are confusing factual and banal.

The fact that even though there were still human rights issues, Bush renewed diplomatic relations with Libya.

You are upset that chemical weopons are not at gadaffis disposal right now because.....?

You are upset that Bush got Gadaffi to give away his chem weopons because...?

Amazingly enough, could it be North Korea? And, before someone gets snarky, I know its not in the middle east. But it seems they are dealing with their own civilian uprising against the government

Nonsense Firm, many of the liberals on here were fine with the invasion of Afghanistan, but not of Iraq. When Iraq was invaded there were, and still are, several countries with worse human rights records. Saudi, Zimbabwe, China spring to mind. We are happy to deal with these countries due to oil, trade ect, so the locals just have to suffer.

Please note my use of the word "We" since I am not giving the UK a free pass on this.

Do you have something more on this, Tazzy? Google is drawing a blank, other than experts saying it ain't gonna happen. That might be one of the few places in the world where they really couldn't do worse than what they have.

Thanks, Tazzy. I'm not going to get my hopes up over that, but it sure makes a nice daydream.

Wouldn't it be nice if North Koreans got it together to kick out their tinpot dictator. I wishhhhhhhh......*sighs*

If something is going to happen in that region, China might be a likelier candidate. I read somewhere there were 80,000 incidences of "civil unrest" (read: riots) in China last year. With increasing educational levels and affluence, something has got to give in China sooner or later.

Here's hoping ...........

Possibly the most unlikely outcome of this, if it happens, is that for once, everyone on these boards would agree about something for a change! Wouldn't that be revolutionary!!!!
