My Dom has recently been talking about collaring me. What do most people's collars look like?

my late M made my collar; it was leather and had big D rings used for playing; it wasn't a daily thing. the "day collar" was mental.

a lot of people have Ring of Steel collars -- those plain grey steel rings

a few people i know have chainmaille collars -- there are all sorts of fancy patterns a mailler can do with rings.

other people have chains with heart shaped locks, or regular-shaped locks.

others have a simple little necklace that has been given special collarish significance.

others wear bracelets, ankle bracelets, toe rings, key chains, pins -- a collar can be ANYTHING depending on your needs and philosophy.

Do most people wear their day collars every single day or just when they are out? Like my Master is thinking about getting  me one for everyday, one for when we are out, and one for at home. He wants it to not be an obvious collar, but something that doesn't just look like a piece of jewelery. What was the agreement between you and your Master when you were collared?

most people i know who have a day collar wear it EVERY day. a lot of them don't even take them off to shower, they just wash under them. some of them do take them off from time to time for a variety of reasons.
people have different beliefs about the importance of collars -- personally i like them; i like a physical reminder of something deeply mental, i like the look of them, but at the same time, i didn't die without a typical day collar to wear around. it just wasn't necessary.

M gave me two bracelets that i wore every day, but took off to shower/bathe, took off to work or carry heavy stuff that might snag and break them, etc etc. the part of it that mattered, honestly, was just the mental part, which didn't go away when the bracelets or collar came off. making my collar was really important to him, but he never intended for me to wear it every day. it wasn't really an agreement so much as it was just how he wanted to do things.

the only problem people sometimes have is that their job/dress code doesn't allow for the typical 'round-the-neck collar. that's where some of the other options come in handy.

Eventually, Daddy will have a necklace for me that will become my collar I wear all the time, even around 'nillas. Right now, he made me a rope collar and I just wear it to bdsm functions/play parties. The directions are on this site http://www.knottyboys.com/code/downloads.php and it's called Rope Slave Collar.

Don't know about most people. Carol has an eternity collar. For a year and change she wore it constantly. Now it's worn "almost constantly" The agreement when I collared her was "she obeys"

Thank you all sooo much! Master and I are both new to doing this publicly, so I was tasked at making sure I knew what I was accepting. I feel as though I have been mentally collared, but the physical collar is a gift :) I would proudly wear it 24/7 because it represents what I already feel and know. I think it is also nice because we are in two different states right now until I graduate.

you can sit still like that for 24/7? :P

on topic.
In time I switched from lifestyle collars..to common necklaces. Mostly on request of the ladies, so they could wear them to work.
It is just a symbol. The real collar should be in their mind and/or heart.

i have:
a heavy 2"black leather dog collar with spikes and d ring
2" black leather buckle collar with o ring
1/2" leather snap collar with slut in the center
a pink and a black 1/2" leather spike dog collar
3 row cultured pearl choker with crystals
slim 1/4" silver wrap around collar
red and white crystal, silvertone collar
these are symbols of the real collar, which is mental and emotional in my case.
the physical ones are like the white gold wedding ring i wear . i consider it a collar too.

I am curious, since this collar looks nothing like jewelry to me. If this is worn constantly how do you wear it to work? Do people ever ask what it is?

I could not wear something that obviously looked like that in my business.

I had two collars. They were both conventional necklaces. One was a gold cross on a gold chain for everyday wear and the other was a pendant with an oval blue saphire with white saphires surrounding it, for more dressy occasions I just swapped out the pendants and used the same chain. It worked for us. And, since he passed away, it's nice to be able to wear these two pieces anytime I want.

Greetings,

It would depend on the work environment and the individual's style of dress. For the collar to be visible to others she'd need to have her neck exposed in some fashion. If the submissive is employed by a company with a more conservative culture, a second item is generally chosen to address this. Many opt for a necklace in these instances and the other piece is worn outside of the job.

Namaste,

~porcelaine

I have a pink leather collar that I wear all the time, except for work.  While at work I only wear a dog tag on a simple chain.  When I receive my permanent collar, it will probably be a chainmail necklace.  A collar can be anything you want it to be.  I know of someone over on fetlife who wears a braided leather ankle bracelet that snaps on, and it's clearly as much a collar to her as mine is to me.

I wear a bracelet similiar to the ones found on the eternity collar link mentioned in leadership's post. Mine is oval, rather than round, since that makes it a bit more difficult to slip off, but the principle and the locking mechanism is the same. Most people look at it and see a silver bangle, not a collar, which makes it acceptable for every day wear, including to the office.

Because the bracelet is stainless steel, I don't need to take it off for any reason. I wear it 24/7. I've even worn it through the security at the airport numerous times.
