I see that several planes violated Libyan airspace in order to retrieve some of their nationals. I assume this will be looked on akin to an unwarranted invasion by some, or perhaps likened to an illegal union strike in wisconsin by some; a breaking of a contract without regard to who is actually honoring it and for what reasons. I understand the insurgents, rebels, whatever perjorative is acceptable these days have gained control of most of the oil sources, a great deal of countryside and are fixin to whup a little ass in Moe's hometown today. And it's only been three weeks, no nukes dropped by radical muslim islamist brotherhoods or rogue iraqi clerisy....no pan-islamic forces siezing control...although there was some anecdotal stories on NPR of egyptians sending medicine and foodstuffs from a grassroots level to the libyan insurrectionists. By god, this might work. How's the rest of the boys doin over there? With the bloodbath in Libya some of the other peoples struggle in the mideast have sort of left focus.

This is not aimed at any one person or point of view. But while people quibble here, it looks like Ghaddafi's Air Force is still bombing and strafing Libyan civilians. Ghaddafi forces are consolidating their grip on Tripoli and it looks like shaping up for an all out war for Tripoli. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/feb/28/libya-anti-gaddafi-rebels-gather The Libyan people desperately need material help in their struggle to rid themselves of a monster - there's a lot the West could do to help. Consider the difference between Western policy in Libya and Iraq and Israel. Who's a hypocrite now? Any one out there still unable to understand why the West isn't flavour of the month in the Arab world?

I would hope supplying them would be an international effort.

Absolutely. I agree with you. Anything like an invasion is out of the question. But there are an awful lot of options between invasion and doing nothing. And it would be criminal for us to do nothing while Libyans are being massacred by a monster for daring to demand freedom and human rights. The Libyans are telling us what they need from us. It's up to us to respond positively. There is simply no reason why we can't.

Let those who created Gaddafi, bring him down, although I suspect when he finally does come down, or shoots himself there will be no escaping to foreign lands, for the people he is bombing will rip him and his family apart. Gaddafi, is not just fighting for continued control, he is fighting for his life ! As to what the west can do, if it cares, is the least, supplies as asked for and nothing else, keep the military out of the situation.

Which is what we are usually accused of. We don't have our soldier over there to get shot at or to return fire ( no Mogadishu this time).
