ORIGINAL: BenevolentM Few men have the balls to be me. they're chromed, arent they? No, ersatz. I'll check your troll choices later. You know, you are one of the very few people here who actually clicks on links? It shows you are interested in other people. Me, I like the music threads, because I like to :1) hear new stuff, and 2:) learn what others like. But I've noticed (not just here, but on other sites as well) that when there are threads like that, people don't really give a shit about what others link to. That's why you see so very few remarks about what others listen to. Fuck, half the time people don't even bother giving a link. They just list the songs they like. "This is what I like." "Well, this is what I like. I know what I like is cooler than what you like. I don't even need to listen to what you like." "Well My stuff is waaay cooler than yours. Don't even bother linking to what you like." It's grade-school stuff. And I saw that on the recent Art/painting/museum thread. I learned about some very cool stuff on that thread, But you and, to her credit, LillyBoPeep (IIRC) were the only ones who actually showed any intellectual curiosity at all. Trying to share shit with most people is just Pearls Before Swine. Typical fucking Americans. And some Brits. But the Amis are the worst. That's why I stick to groups where I knw people are actually interested. Like the rec.music.percussion group I belong to. yes, it's about percussion, but I have learned a bunch about Jazz and Blues and Classical as well. Same with travel. I have had a lot of very cool experiences, and I'm on my 3rd passport, but there's no point in even bothering to try and share them, because there is always someone who thinks their trip down to the Dairy Queen is the cat's meow. It's all this stupid moronic one-upmanship shit. Why should I bother sharing about the menu at Tan Dihn in Paris, or what the view was like looking out over the Alps at Salzburg from Hitler's Eagles Nest, or the orchids and bromiliads above the tree canopy in the rain forest in the mountains just outside San Jose Costa Rica, or spending 3 weeks on the far side of Kodiak Island building a cabin, without any running water, radio, roads, boats, or such, and where the nearest people were 5 miles away up the bay by boat, when most people can't even find Europe on the map, and what is worse, they don't even care to find out? Because anything they've done/seen/listened to trumps everyone else. End of rant. Maintain your intellectual curiosity, GT and Bo Peep. it keeps you alive and interesting.
