What puzzles me is the talk of Jon Cryer being able to carry the show on his own ... from what I've seen of "Two And A Half Men" (as formulaic and unfunny a "comedy" as I've seen in years, but it's repeated endlessly on Comedy Channel here, as my enforced daytime resting of late has shown me), Cryer's got all the personality of a dead duck.

Which is not to say I support Sheen, merely that I can see how someone, in that company, might start to believe they're actually really talented, once they've looked around the room a few times, when they're actually just doing a semi-competent job.

PS: That "joke" was all over the net ages ago, after Sheen's first rant, so WTF Ramos is doing "claiming" it is also beyond me.

NocturnalStalker -> RE: Charlie Sheen (3/3/2011 12:34:05 PM)

Two & A Half Men is a good show...if you use it as capital punishment.

SorceressJ -> RE: Charlie Sheen (3/3/2011 1:59:42 PM)

The kid steals the show every time, anyway. Him and that old babe that used to be their housekeeper..

Have I mentioned that I absolutely loathe 99.99999% of all network TV and especially modern sitcoms (after the golden years of the '70s, TV took a MAJOR nosedive from which it will never recover)? IMO, "Two and a Half Men" (and I think we have all been shown who the real half a man is here. not the kid..) and it's apparent appeal to the lowest common denominator is a sign of the times.

P.S. If anyone reading this happens to like that show, you are asked to please not take offense at the above statement, because it was not directed at you. I am just a judgemental bitch like that, anyway, and was feeling a bit more jaded than usual toward the majority of the human race and the general state of things today. No worries, though.

I still think Charlie Sheen is an idiot, sorry.

Just sayin'.

heh ... it's the combination of weak writing and taped laughter that marks it out as standard, run-of-the-mill, unfunny fare.

I look at the likes of Frasier, then that lame crap, and wonder how on earth Charlie can get $2 million an episode. I presume the rest of the field must be really weak these days?

I'm surprised someone doesn't know what YMMV stands for.

Kind of dgf hkw of them.

Don't start confusing me with all these abbreviations.

But on a serious note, does it really take that much more time to actually type everything?

I know that everyone who spends time here has extremely hectic schedules, but it only takes a few seconds.

Not everybody has the same standards.  As hard as it is to believe, there is a contingency of dimwits out there that cite that show as comedic genius.  Then again, I also find "The Exorcist" to be the most underrated comedy movie ever so what do I know?

Hmmph. I love the show. I don't know where the characters are now (or were), but I love catching the reruns. It always makes me laugh.

Little thought here (yes, I have those): Is it sick that we are sitting here being entertained by a man that is obviously going down in flames?

They already started a Charlie Sheen thread over in "off topic" where it belongs.
Oh, but Sanity has a special take on it.

Now somehow Charlie Sheen's problems are because he didn't like Bush
.
Yes, obviously he's fallen on hard times because of the bad Karma he accumulated, speaking about bush(es). [:D]  M

Not at all ... a good train wreck is fun.

Charlie Sheen and Alex Jones, a match made in heaven.

I've never seen so many people gathered in one place who hated a guy just for WINNING.

heh ... it is certainly interesting that the US (historically a place where success was all that mattered) seems to be getting more into the UK's "tall poppy syndrome" mentality; namely that people have to be "nice" or "decent" in order to garner true praise.

As I say though, I can't believe (having spent a weekend watching a few 2&.5Men, as Comedy Central UK cash in on the publicity Charlie's recent lunacy has generated) just how average a show with an 8 year run and a $1.8 million-an-episode leading man salary, is.

Don't get me wrong, I've seen worse. Much worse. But apart from Charlie's occasionally mildly diverting performance, the show's as shallow as a tinker's bath. Oh, and the chances of said show continuing to succeed without Charlie are so close to zero as to be un-measurable with existing technology.

Ok, I understand its fun to watch... but what happens when he ends up dead over this shit? Thats the way Hollywood is, ride em til they die then throw the corpse out with the trash

Given that he's an adult, that would tend to be his responsibility to fix, or go along with, as he sees fit.

Don't be jealous handsome, just because he's rich and lives the way a large part of society says it's cool for men to live.   What's the saying, "sex, drugs, and rock &roll."

I hope Charlie gets better for his own, and his family's sake.   For my own, that show was/is funny as hell.    If I'm home, I watch it.    I'd buy all the DVDs, but I'm trying to be financially responsible.    M

NocturnalStalker -> RE: Charlie Sheen (3/7/2011 9:49:44 AM)

Who do you think you are calling me "handsome?"

...Do it again.

Seriously though, I do not get what is hilarious about his show.  Could you explain to me the comedy in it?  To me it just seems like another wannabe Married With Children, only with bachelors and a charismatic kid.

LaTigresse -> RE: Charlie Sheen (3/7/2011 9:55:25 AM)

NC, I don't get it either but then again.......I've never been a fan of any of the Sheen clan. I saw Martin in a movie last week and his poor performance was almost laugh worthy, except he pretty much ruined the movie for me.

As I said before, when I look at Charlie all I see is a slightly younger (though that is changing with every photo of see of Charlie) version of my father. Only my father used to be much better looking than Charlie ever was.
