14 trillion dollar debt and a 4 billion dollar budget that's 1/4 deficit. 9+% unemployment.

Really? The USA's budget is just $4 Billion dollars? Care to show the evidence that supports THAT comment?

If the budget is indeed just $4 Billion/year. And it generates 1/4 a deficit. How has it been able to generate $14 Trillion dollars in debt in ten years? I think you really need to go back to 2nd grade and re-learn how to count.

Republicans created that mess. They now have the House. As mnottertail pointed out, what are Republicans doing about it? The answer is pretty easy: nothing. Absolutely NOTHING. But they do lie about pretty much everything, and construct it in a manner that convinces stupid and ignorant conservatives on a daily basis, that they are doing good things for the nation.

Like laying off workers during a recession and high unemployment.

You mean the "guns & butter" system, of Americans needing to pay for guns to use on the ragheads, and butter for Wall Street?

The Teabaggers don't seem to have much a problem with that.   Republicans are a minority party to begin with, only able to control thru party discipline - the church rounds up the voters, and Wall Street pays the bills - and the Teabaggers split the GOP right down the middle, and have pretty much shredded that model.   Some sort of revolution was inevitable from the GOP Ponzi scheme.

So if the GOP is fragmented, and the Democrats are no more organized than they usually are, running the country will fall back on the bureaucrats.    The GOP can refuse to fund the bureaucracy, and nobody else will have authority, so then we'll see how tough these chickenhawks are when Federal enforcement is down a half.

Obstructionism isn't a workable ideology to run the USA on.    Teabaggers are a bunch of petulant children who may wake up one day and figure out that their Wall Street daddies are big-time pedophiles.

disagree.  3rd parties don't last; they get absorbed.   if the T-baggers & their financiers can't get it together, I suspect we'll just have party infighting (witness NV last election) until the Democrats move far enough left to bring swing voters back to the GOP.

How far will the T-baggers go when their financiers pull the plug?   I'll bet half their activity depends on PACs like the Kochs, and if they don't have that, they'll wither - and what will the GOP do then?   Send privateers out to start up more wars?

The post is too old for me to change "4 billion" to the "4 trillion" I intended.
So sorry.

It's a cultural thing.   The GOP has the rednecks convinced that being slaves makes them badasses, and that's what they want more than anything.

So the idea here is you don't need medical or dental coverage if you have a gun, and that makes you a badass.   Oh yeah, get some "real men love jesus" bumper stickers, or "real men do it on their knees".   Sheesh.

Your repetitive projection onto others of a desire for "badassdom", coupled with your profession and location, seem to me to be very telling psychologically.

So, truckin wants to close the borders.

How much you willing to pay for it?  Who's going to enforce it, and where will they come from?  Are you going for the Berlin Wall version?

BTW, our structural deficit is 1.3 trillion or so.  The discretionary budget is about 1/4 of that.  You'd have to de-fund the DoD and Medicare to get rid of the deficit.

Who's gonna have the balls to finally admit we need increased taxes?  Who's gonna have the nerve to raise the taxes up to Clinton's administration?  Or even Reagan's rates?  Cause this piddly cutting of services to the poor, students, and WIC ain't going to do it.

Not when you go two war in 2 theaters on credit cards.

Why should tea partiers compromise? Obama wasn't willing to compromise on Obamacare in the least. Republicans offered numerous good ideas such as eliminating Viagra and sexual enhancement drugs as a paid benefit. Now that he doesn't have a green light, all of a sudden he wants to compromise. I don't think so.

Unemployment is at 8.9%, not 9+.

Wow, you missed that one by a country mile.

The proposition was to cut Viagra to sex offenders.

Yeah, that's got to be worth at least $200.   Much more important than trying to deal with our money hemorrhages in the mid-east and on Wall Street.

Look! Over there!  a bum you can kick, while I steal your house and rape your women!

I guess it's natural selection.

I don't think so.   The GOP had a pretty good model that allowed them to maintain control with not much more than a third of the vote - but the Teabaggers have split that down the middle.

It seems clear that you can't get too crazy, or Sharon Angle would have been elected.   So the GOP has to maintain some order, and yet they also have to keep their voters fired up about Mexicans, muslims, etc.    The Teabaggers represent a major disciplinary problem in the GOP - while the Democrats have never had any discipline, because they represent basically everybody else who doesn't feel either established or scared shitless, and none of these groups have anything else in common.

What's the default?  Well, the bureaucracy has a lot of momentum.  When it shuts down for lack of funding, what's going to happen?   Same thing as always - the guys lowest on the food chain will always suck hind tit - all the truckinslaves, all the social security pensioners who got privatized - these folks will, voluntarily or not, take it in the ass.

And then when their Medicare dries up, you can wander around policing up all the free guns & ammo you could possibly want.

*Sigh*....

Because they were freaking elected to office and have a job to do.  Ideally, they would do the job they were paid to do and try to pass good legislation, rather than whining about who did what to who.

Obama didn't compromise when he didn't need to, and now he wants to because he must.  His goal is to get legislation passed which he considers good.  That's his job.

Legislating is more than just a game of "He started it, Mommy!" and pointing fingers.
