All of my cats have just been terribly lazy. If there's a door in their way they will just sit and meow...slowly getting louder until someone pays attention and lets them out, or in.

If your cat is sleeping- wake them up!   Do it now.

SweetDommes -> RE: cats and bathroom doors (3/10/2011 2:42:44 PM)

Both of my cats are sleeping ... and one of them is pregnant. If you think she needs to be wakened, then you can come do it yourself ... she's cranky lol

Possibly my favorite saying about cats is to the effect of, 'Centuries ago cats were worshipped as gods. They have not forgotten this.'

Think of that quote whenever you deal with a cat, or question their actions.

GreedyTop -> RE: cats and bathroom doors (3/10/2011 2:53:23 PM)

I used to have that on a bumper sticker...

On a similar note, I feel that all cats are sociopaths.

Once they develop opposable thumbs, man kind is doomed.

Do you really think it will take that long?

tazzygirl -> RE: cats and bathroom doors (3/10/2011 3:58:11 PM)

They will keep a few token humans around. Someone has to clean the litter boxes.

Cats are super aware of water... and they do not like to get wet.  Mine watches me like a hawk.. she knows everything that goes on in the house. If I move furniture -- etc- she must inspect.

She also likes to go in and out of the bathroom door when I do my routine.

Cats have extremely good hearing.  She insists on knowing all that is going on in the house..

cats are aware of the flow of energy...

Not my neighbour's cat, ( I call it moon cat, because of it's glowing coat under moonlight, and it's lunatic personality)  it is a rescue cat and not only is it odd looking but it has some odd but likeable behaviours. Then we found out what it was, a breed called a Turkish Van, it loves water.

My cat, the ever prickly Holly, does not like closed doors at all, so if I forget and close an internal door, she makes movements to suggest she wants to go through the door, so I open it, then the cat goes back to sitting in the window sill, obviously content she has the freedom of the house again.

NocturnalStalker -> RE: cats and bathroom doors (3/10/2011 6:48:32 PM)

Have you ever been angry at your cat and said to it, "I could end your insignificant existence right now and you'd never see it coming?"

Because that would be cool if you did.  We should Facebook.

Aneirin -> RE: cats and bathroom doors (3/10/2011 6:56:12 PM)

I am more bothered about what a cat gets upto when one is sleeping, as often I have woken up and found two paws on the edge of my bed and the cat looking at me very intently, it is quite unnerving seeing that.

Cats like any other animal, I will not harm animals, especially cats, for I have always loved cats, and even as a kid, aged agout seven, I wanted an Ocelot.

NocturnalStalker -> RE: cats and bathroom doors (3/10/2011 7:00:03 PM)

Would you ever consider kissing a tarantula?

Aneirin -> RE: cats and bathroom doors (3/10/2011 7:10:23 PM)

Now, I am working on spiders, I used to errationally fear the things, but now I am easier with them, but kissing them, no, I don't think I need to go that far.

My cat gets kissed, and I think she knows what it means for it elicts purring, which I take to mean the cat is happy.

I get relaxed around my cat.. and she stretches-  nothing bothers her.   I should be more like that.

lizi -> RE: cats and bathroom doors (3/10/2011 10:05:29 PM)

My female cat will immediately start wailing if I go into a bathroom and shut the door. She accepts it when other room doors are closed and I'm behind them but not when I'm in the bathroom. I do not know why. It's embarassing if anyone else is around, I'll say that. Then when I let her in, she waits impatiently to go back out again and cries some more. Drives me nuts.
