hisdevin -> Grammatically Correct Slave (3/9/2011 9:34:40 PM)

Hello everyone! I'm devin and I am a slave in my thirties. I am here mostly for friendship and lifestyle discussion, both on the forums and in private messages. I'm open to talking to anybody regardless of their gender, age or orientation, but I would like to make it clear that I have been in the same collar for the past seven years. I am happily married to my owner and our situation isn't likely to change any time soon.

I've gotten some questions about my profile where I state that one does not have to be submissive to be a slave. This might be an interesting opportunity to address that statement.

I do not believe that "slave" means a person who is more submitted than another person. There are no levels, or degrees, of submission. I hate to hear people talking about "true" submission or "natural" submission in a way that is meant to denigrate others. I define "slave" as an owned person, but since there are slaves here who are not owned, I suppose that I can concede that it says more about what you are seeking (TPE) than what you currently are.

I am a slave because I am owned. I am submitted, but not submissive. I am naturally a bold, look you in the eyes, tell you how it is woman. I abhor titles and I'm not always respectful. You may identify yourself as a dominant, but you aren't my dominant. There is a very short list of "approved" dominants my master allows me to address as Sir or Master (Ma'am is always fine, but I tend to apply the same principle to men as to women).

If you don't already hate me, keep reading :)

I am a fan of grammar. I don't like stuttering and I hate to see people use a lower case i or a capital H for his or her. It bothers me. Being a dominant, a master or a mistress does not make you superior to me. It just means that you have a different preference for your lifestyle than what I have for mine. In fact, I'm probably just as dominant as some of you; but I choose to submit to that one person.

In short, I'm a grammar fanatic and I don't trust or respect someone just because of what they claim to be. I've been "real" (as in "real life") for thirteen years now. I've played the online games and enjoyed them, but nothing compares to having somebody there to monitor your behavior and your submission and to constantly encourage you to be better. You can be anything on the Internet. My favorite people are those who choose to be themselves. This is me, like it or lump it.

Glad to be here! I'm looking forward to some intelligent lifestyle discussion. I've really missed engaging with other lifestylers, and Master and I are just now trying to find our feet again. It's been a rough past few years due to the crazy economy!

These two quotes say a mouthful. I find myself much the same except on the opposite end of the spectrum. I submit to a persons desire to be dominated by me.

And I am notably grammatically incorrect.

My sentiments exactly.

Welcome.

It's really nice to read someone being themselves, as opposed to attempting to emulate the ideal of a top notch yahoo educated Dom/me or sub. {Or the general snobbery prevelant online amid the "my kink is better than your kink/ I've been in the lifestyle for 113 years so I win the 'lifetime achievement of wisdom award' by default" types}

Hi Devin,

You will find grammar police here as well as posts that will hurt your eyes.

Welcome!

Oh. I should have mentioned, just for those who aren't popping onto my profile. I'm female :) devin means "poet" and it was a name that I chose with help many years ago due to the fact that certainly during that time I was cranking out a lot of erotic (lifestyle) poetry.

Thank you all for the welcome. I have already noticed some profiles that hurt my eyes to read and I just... Well, I don't bother with them. I'm only here for friendship anyway and it's hard for me to relate to people who follow Internet protocol. Nothing wrong with learning online; I learned a lot online. But reality is an entirely different thing. If you want it, be prepared for it :)

Stuttering has absolutely nothing to do with proper grammar. It is a physical issue and causes immense stress for the stutterer. I am certain having grown up with a stutterer in my family that was a brilliant man he would have not been inflicted with it if he had a choice. Do you also "hate" people with cancer or schizophrenia?

I too am a tell it like it is woman. There are a lot of us here, as well as many dominant type submissive women. It's not really that rare. Welcome and good luck.

I agree!  This chick doesn't sound very nice.

hisdevin -> RE: Grammatically Correct Slave (3/10/2011 9:00:44 AM)

By "stuttering" I did not mean a speech disorder. I meant the tendency for people to "stutter" or "slash" their words when speaking to a mixed group, such as saying "Y/you or A/all." I had thought that would be self-explanatory, but apparently not.

As to people who have physical disabilities, why should that bother me? I have people with speech issues in my family (though no stutterers), members of my family with cerebral palsy, people with developmental disorders, etc. I'm not sure why someone with a physical stuttering problem would bother anyone, frankly.

Aynne88 -> RE: Grammatically Correct Slave (3/10/2011 9:17:39 AM)

No it wasn't clear, I have never heard of slashy type being referred to as "stuttering." Thank you for explaining that is what it meant to you. I hope you can understand how I took it literally.

I had to re-read my post to understand how you took it literally, but yes, I can. I apologize for not being clear in what I meant. I think I edited the initial post and actually took out my explanation (like an idiot).

Hello every. Although I have been reading the forms for a few weeks this is my first comment. Lady Pact, I have view your comments as rational logical and knowledge based and I can find nothing to dislike about knowledge and logic.
