So the guy that is the poster boy for the failed Pledge to America is running for poster boy of the failed Promise to America.  Think that shit will sell?

tazzygirl -> RE: Using your country as an excuse. (3/11/2011 10:41:52 AM)

Hell no.

Wait, Im sure it will with those who are so dead set against Obama and the Dems that they would vote for anyone running against them.

Thats about it.

Fucking pack of lies.....Got any facts to back that up at all? His wife was sick in the hospital when he laid the papers on her. Thats the kind of human I want as president...

I am thinking of a name. . . John something. . .

Hmmmm. . .

Last name. . . .

Edwards? Maybe?

Perhaps you have heard of him.

Never asked me about Edwards did you? Your slander was about President Clinton....But, of course, you have no proof only lies...

Mike, edwards has run for President two times, staring unofficially in 2000. He stayed with his wife until 2010, the same year she died from cancer. As I said before, this isnt about political affiliation, this is about morality. Neither man has any.

The only difference between the two is that Elizabeth Edwards left John ... after he admitted to fathering the child. Perhaps putting him one step above Gingrich... but barely a step.
Tazz politcal affiliation has nothing to do with it in my eyes either....Edwards is pond scum.My point is that Edwards is,politically speaking dead(for now anyway)...where as Gingrich is in the proccess of gearing up for a run.....so one is irrelevant while the other is uber rellevant.
I wasn't the one who threw Edwards into this conversation...that was some other poster who felt the need to balance out the tale of a Republican scumbag by bringing up a Democratic scumbag.

mnottertail -> RE: Using your country as an excuse. (3/11/2011 11:13:13 AM)

One is reminded, however; of the many valorious women whom, over the centuries, have just closed their eyes and thought of England.

Yeah right!! He was working so hard he didn't have time to do his wife...yet he somehow found the time for doing whoever it was he did do (sorry not up on the details nor do I care to be). I am fucking sick of these bastards left and right...wouldn't it be cool if there was just one decent honest politician these days. We need more Pierre Trudeaus.

And your point is ? Edwards was found wanting during the nomination proccess...and dropped out.End of story.
Gingrich is contemplating(despite the denials) a run for the Republican 2012 nimination.
The story continues....

So 2004 didn't happen?

Another ass without a moral compass... fucking idiots.

I agree. I really do not care for either.

I just do not see Gingrich as "blaming" the US as much as he is making excuses for his behavior.

"There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate,"

Thats his excuse. Blaming his job because he was paryially driven...how hard he worked.... how passionate he felt for his country.

And yet men manage to go their whole lives without an affair, even though they are driven passionately about their jobs.

Give me a break. He tried to wrap up his affairs in a pretty, patriotic bow.

Aylee -> RE: Using your country as an excuse. (3/11/2011 12:05:33 PM)

Tazzy, I just do not see it as him "blaming." I see him making excuses.

He does not get any extra moral or ethic points from me for it. I am disagreeing on the terminology. I think excuse making is more accurate.

Yep...2004 happened.....so did 2003,now just what the fuck is your point?
psst...here's a guideline for you,all of the previous years(and events contained within) actually did happen.

So 2004 didn't happen?

I just checked my calendar and I'm pretty sure it did.

I thought this thread was for discussing Gingrich's viability as a presidential candidate for the 2012 election, in particular, the effect of his latest meanderings on same.  He won't be running against Clinton or Edwards (in the primaries), so I'm not sure your point in insisting on a scumbag scorecard. Edwards is permanently disqualified politically, although he may not realize this yet.

The field of GOP 2012 possibles includes Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Mitch Daniels, Rick Perry, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, Mike Pence, Haley Barbour, Herman Cain, and Sarah Palin.  I can't imagine any Republican constituency that will take Gingrich seriously and this latest just detracts from his credibility.

Whether he's blaming or making excuses, he's not stepping up and being accountable, so it's an irrelevant distinction.  He's not fooling anyone, except possibly himself, with his insincere, inadequate, and transparently political attempt.

Do you consider him a strong candidate?  If so, what are his strengths in your opinion?

ETA additional response to "blame" versus "excuses"

Juanita Broaddrick was not.

I do not believe that Kathleen was either.

Then why don't you provide us the proof?

Prove that I was there when.........

Nevermind.

She clearly stated that she doesn't believe it...

How much more proof that she doesn't believe it do you require? [:D]

The comment was made about wanting someone who would do such a thing in office. My point was that Edwards, who did such a thing, was on the VP ticket.

Which sounds to me that it is only horrible if the other side is doing it.

Part of that is because we have become a society in which if we 'fess up and say, "I'm sorry," in public, things are supposed to be all better.

He HASN'T accepted responsibility... As far as *I* know (and hey, who knows--maybe he's been communing with the spirit of Webster, and has gotten sanctioned changes that us mere mortals know nothing about), taking responsibility for something means 'fessing up AND trying to make things better. He's not even 'fessing up with both feet, much less admitting that something needs to be made better, much LESS doing something to actually try to MAKE it better. All he's doing is SAYING that he takes responsibility;
And there you have it, ladies and gents--

Taking Responsibility Lite! Tastes great, less filling! All of the lip service, and none of the work! ACTUALLY taking responsibility? Forget THAT messy alternative!"

The only strength in his candidacy that I see is name recognition. On the other hand, I think that could also be more of a liability.

I doubt that he will see the nomination.

Edited to add my response to Mike.

Never went to court, likely statute of limitations.

However, she says he did. He says otherwise, but we know he is a liar.
