FR - I try to use the forums inbuilt quote system but a lot of the time it breaks/repeats itself/generally fucks up(if anyone knows what causes the thing where it pastes random sections of what you're trying to quote over again mixed in with repeats of the post you're trying to quote, I'm all ears). So often I end up using old fashioned "" instead. Apologies for any confusion, but I always figured it was fairly clear. They are called quotation marks and all that....

You know you could just take a look at it and then figure out how to do it manually

To begin a quote you type the bracket next to the L key, and then "quote", followed by the bracket to the right of that bracket.
To end a quote it is exactly the same except between the brackets you type"/quote".

Go practice in the test forum.

Is the op kidding?!? Straight men lurve flowers. And when I say 'flowers', I mean 'labia'.
I get lots of compliments from lovely straight men on my avatar, my poetry, and my, uh, 'flower'.

Sure, I'm an FWC, but with rock-hard hamstrings from the elliptical, and a belle poitrine that long, lean good men love to love.
Besides, good men know BBW means carnal appetites and excellent stamina, in bed and out: I can go for hours. I'll never forget the anorexic wife of a colleague who refused to go down on him because of the calories! You should have seen the look on her face when I contradicted with 'it's less than an eggwhite' and 'a flavoured condom = no calories'.

And yes, OMG, the men who consider themselves 'handsome': [:'(] either ugly or pricks which means ugly on the inside.
So give me a good man any day!

From HCM's journals;
" Ladies,in particular straight ladies, what's with the poetry and pictures of flowers? Most men don't like poetry or flowers so who are you trying to attract?"
Seems like HCM has issues with women period

FR ~

It's interesting how differently people perceive the OP. I and some others took it as an intellectual discussion on our perception of a very commonly used acronym, while others took it as an expression of a personal preference for a slim partner, and others took it as an attack on all larger women. Frankly, if I had taken it as either of the latter two, I wouldn't have bothered to continue to read - nevermind post.

Whatever it was intended as by the OP, it has succeeded in giving me something to ponder. I'm glad to know the origins of the acronym (it makes sense as a marketing ploy). This term has become so incredibly PC that those of us who choose not to use it get told that we are wrong or that we lack confidence or that we lack self-esteem. Yet, we live in a society where being fat is frowned upon for aesthetic, health, financial, or whatever the reason of the day is. The word "fat" has been given so many negative connotations that it seems to be starting on the road to being considered the equivalent of a racial epithet.

I'm thinking that my personal distaste with the BBW acronym maybe isn't so much the forced opinion. I'm starting to see that the distaste comes in part from my not choosing to allow a word - the word "fat" - to have any power over me. It is a simple word, and doesn't have to carry the negative with it - for me, it can just be a simple adjective that accurately describes part of my physical appearance.

Another part of it that I found bothersome - I don't like being described by the word "beautiful". That word, to me, is about visual appearance only. I don't like to sum up people based only on appearance, so I have a disconnect with that word. I may be alone in this, but if I were to describe the men and women who I like/love/respect/admire who are the most visually attractive, I would not use the word beautiful. I have used "wondrous", "incredible", and "amazing" --- as, to me, these words describe the person, and not just their looks.

Yet another part that irks me is the apparent egotism of the expression. For me, I personally find something a bit off-putting about someone tooting their own horn. Whether it's about looks, intelligence, compassion, integrity --- is the person shouting from the rooftops that they have this personality trait really so unsure of how clearly it will come through in their words and actions that they have to point it out?

Finally (sorry - I know I'm long-winded!), I think that the fact that so many have bought in to the use of this acronym appears in some way to be an acceptance of being part of a marginalized group. That is not something that is acceptable for me. I am myself. I deal with the world as an individual. I will not accept being treated or dismissed as part of a group. Darn it, if you're going to dismiss me, it'll be because I caused it, not because I resemble some others in one way or other!

Thanks to the OP and all of the rest of you who let me really think about this!

Bloody good post.

Well I don't know what to tell ya, I don't see any difference but character length between baldy and bald guy. 'Those skinnies' would certainly be new to me too though. Put it down to cultural differences.

Cultural differences is possible, but try using the diminutive for someone with dark skin and you get a word that is well known as a racist insult, the use of which may well get one's ass kicked. Similarly, 'fatty' is usually seen as an insult because it is commonly used as one. I would think that most people have heard it used that way against either themselves or others from grammar school on.

Thanks for the calm discussion.

Out of curiousity, what is 'the diminuitive for someone with dark skin'?
'Cos if ya mean 'black', no-one where I am has a problem with that...we don't have 'African-British' over here....well, we do....but we also have non-African-but-still-black british, and sorta african-british but were born here and would object to being called african...and all sortsa shit. Ya get the idea.

I can see that 'fatty' is often used as an insult, certainly during school years....but only in exactly the same way as 'fat' is. At least, in my opinion. Hell, so is ginger, but I'm not gonna stop calling ginger hair ginger either.

Yeah, I'm familiar with it, often end up patching up and modifying the tags, but sometimes it just winds up simpler to quote the old fashioned way. :)

I am the OP, those journal entries are not mine.

The contrast between your (common) reaction to that and the common acceptance of the 2nd B in BBW is exactly what OP was getting at.

Ah, I see. I forgot that you are British. No, 'black' is not it. I won't post the word, cmail me if you are really curious.

Yes and no, for reasons already stated.
That said, I can agree to disagree.

"I won't post the word, cmail me if you are really curious." Nah I can see your point either way, and I have much the same (incredibly controversial I know) opinion about 'peanut butter' as I do 'fat', but that's probably a whole 'nother debate.

"That said, I can agree to disagree."

Looks like we do :)

No. People can refer to themselves however they care to. I find it would be a waste of my

I care even less about the fact that something like this annoys you.
