ORIGINAL: sexyred1 quote:
ORIGINAL: DCWoody "actually, 'sub' is short for submissive. Using 'subbie' is making extra effort to use a diminutive which is often seen as condescending, particularly if it is directed at people who do not know and like you. That said, while I do not mind being called fat (I'm 5'9" and a bit under 200lbs, so 'big' would also be accurate), 'fatty' bugs me for a couple of reasons. First off, the diminutive makes it sound condescending and very much like a grammar school insult. Secondly, removing 'person', 'man', or 'woman' turns the fat part from an adjective into a noun, which comes across as an attempt to marginalize the person or persons being referred to by defining them according to a single trait." I think you're reading way too much into my turn of phrase :) "I find that many of the people who use terms like 'fatty' wouldn't even think of walking up to a bald person that they didn't know very well and saying, "Hey, baldy, how ya doin'?" For that matter most won't call someone 'fatty' to their face either. If the term is so OK to use and not intended as an insult, I wonder why that is..." That's just ridiculous, I don't go up and say 'hey bald person' either, I say 'Alright Dave'. Are you bi-polar or something? Or just back pedaling now that it is too late. As for your stated size, the irony of your thread is beyond. You have completely lost me. How am I backpedaling? and what on earth is "my stated size"?
