Yes it is annoying to me. It's annoying because a woman has to take on yet another label to justify her existence to counteract the narrow-minded and judgmental opinions of other people who don't make the effort to show any consideration for other people or accept that other people might just be fine and happy being different from what they perceive to be 'normal'. But you know what really really annoys me? It's this prevalent attitude held by the Socially Privileged in society, particularly at the top of the social hierarchy and the deluded white, cisgendered, cissexual, middle class male who feels that it really is all about him, all the time and that he has this freedom to regard the Marginalized People of society either as a source of amusement, a cheap thrill or a justifiable target for all his insecurities, fears, prejudices and delusions. It's also the prevalent attitude expressed by many in the media which reinforces this hierarchy through society to maintain the status quo of pecking order and social engineering which not only results in a deluded sense of Social Privilege among those at the top but also those lower down the social hierarchy resulting what can be perceived as Horizontal Hostility.. You know, like all those black male rap singers with the bling and the baseball caps who oblivious to the struggles and oppression black people have faced throughout history feel justified in targetting homosexuals.. The same thing can be seen with organizations such as the National Institute of Marriage and the 'Marriage between a Man and a Woman is God's way' seeking to define what is and what isn't a marriage for everybody else. Thing is, perception and perspective are relative to the individual and if you believe in such crap as social privilege and advantage you can actually turn the arguments round on their head. For example it could be argued that a white, cisgendered, cissexual male who is overweight, got no job, no money, no looks and is over 45 might as well chop his dick off for the amount of action he is going to get. So okay, people have prejudices. That's fine. People have preferences. Of course, it's only natural. People can be ignorant, stupid, misinformed, uneducated, I get that too. And people can be unkind, unfair, lacking in compassion, inconsiderate and ill-informed I can get that too. None of us here are perfect. This isn't about being PC or politically correct, which I personally feel was part of the problem to begin with in dictating to people what they should think, what they should believe and how they should label people. No, what gets to me is the mental resistance aspect, the stubborn refusal to accept that one is being ignorant, misinformed, bigoted, the lack of introspection, the determination to justify one's prejudices by arguing opinion as fact and the stepping over that line in the sand into pure, unadulterated douchebaggery by making every attempt to derail the topic just because they cannot accept that they are wrong. Thing is that sense of Social Privilege is an illusion, it doesn't exist in reality, but these guys don't realize that and so they succumb to the media and social pressure to distort their own sense of masculinity and buy into all that machismo and 'think with your dick' crap. But the thing is at the end of the day this world, society, and other people in general; are all so much bigger than you, none of it is ever going to fit in with the way you think it should be, you're not going to change it, so why waste time and get all upset and bothered over it? Isn't a little bit of humanity, common sense, and consideration for others that much easier. I mean, these things don't cost anything, do they? Pity that some people just can't afford them.
