I think if you are going to humiliate someone in public, it needs to be done with people you already know in the privacy of your home and who are OK with this. It makes people very uncomfortable to witness the humiliation of someone else, and I think it is wrong to impose that on strangers who haven't consented to it.

On the other hand, I agree with the idea that there are many discreet yet powerful ways you could express your mastery of your slave in public, some of which might be humiliating, depending on the slave. For example, you could simply have her kneel beside you while you sit on a bench or a chair. While doing so, she might massage your hand while you read. This is just one example. The clothes you select for her in this little scene would be important as well.

One which was good, some places on the continent have vast public fancy dress events - carnivals and the like. People wear all sorts of fancy dress. I had one sub wear a baby outfit - complete with nappy. As everyone was dressed up this wasn't so much of an issue, but making her use the nappy caused her to blush :)
