I am particularly enjoying watching hausboy and NS squirm on the spider thread so I though I would ask the age old question... Gosh, could I be a sadist? No need to answer, I already know. However I would like to chit chat about the evil realm of psychological sadism. Is it so wrong of me to put a tarantula on you after you are helplessly bound to a cross?

I'm big on delivering psychological torment. It's lots of fun (for me that is). So that does sound like something I might do, assuming the phobia wasn't too intense. Got to make sure they are actually helpless though, don't want them hurting the poor critter by thrashing.

Assuming the paramedics successfully resuscitated me....I hope you can run really fast. Because it would be beyond an ass kicking. my arachnophobia is fairly severe....It was actually one of the hardest things to deal with living alone. I've had spider "stand-offs" in my house that lasted for over an hour.. So....hard limit of the hardest kind for me!

I was doing a scene once in a guy's livingroom, and was spread eagle on a futon facing up. In the middle of it, a huge spider crawled across the ceiling and started dropping down on it's cord right over my face. I can count on one hand the number of times in my life I have safeworded out of a scene, and that time was the single most terrifying. I like spiders, but only if they don't come near me. So yeah, hard limit for me, too.

My sister used to practice psychological sadism on me when I was a child. I figured out by about age 5 that I could live in terror or I could get over the phobias & stop being her victim. I don't think I'd make a very good subject for you, Troll. Sorry, but the mind-fucks just tend to make me laugh. [8D]

I live in a part of Canada where spiders are not lethal or even big, they're actually like pussy spiders by comparisons. I still do not go to sleep if I lose sight of one. I will wait like a sharpshooter until it emerges and I can murder it. Now I have a cat to do my hunting for me. Two of them.

I was doing Confined Space Rescue Training and we were using an outdoor training facility--concrete sewer drains underground (no yucky stuff inside them but they were dirty...dark...cooler...) my partner and I were masked up, on an shoreline (breathing our air though a long hose connected to an above ground air supply) We crawled single file, on our stomachs, about 20 feet into a small vault about 3 feet high by 5 feet wide, enough for the two of us to sit down with our legs bunched up. Pitch dark except for our head lamps. My partner turns his lantern toward me and points at me, at something over my shoulder. I realize that both of us are now sitting in a "den" with at least 4 or 5 spiders. I shut off my light. My partner says to me "what's wrong?" I told him "I know what's here.. Better I don't see it." We made record time getting out of that tunnel.

Nope, that wouldn't work either if his phobia is that severe....all my sister needs is a picture of a snake to go completely gonzo......spiders under glass would do the same to me. There would always be the thought that the sucker would get loose, the glass knocked over, it would be set free......hell, I did the heebiejeebie dance just seeing the pics on the other thread.

OMFG Haus......I'd have dug thru the ceiling of that space with my bare hands..... And I've invested in a long broom for my spider killing.......that way it can't drop and get me.....

I learned quickly from being in all-male environments--I never share my deepest fears. If they ever knew...I'd be dealing with spiders in my bunk, office, car, boots, helmet., etc. on a daily basis.
