A couple people here have touched on the fact that anal sex without lube is a health risk, but I'm surprised that no one has pointed out why. The lack of lubrication can greatly increase the chance of tearing internal tissue, which in turn increases the risk of contracting an STD. If you're going to have anal sex without lube, you'd better be damn sure your partner is STD free. Spy

Tears can occur more easily without the use of lubricant. Spy

T-cells are the same cells that turn into HIV virus factories. Spy That's a good point.... also, STDs aside, I can't imagine that having fecal bacteria get into bleeding, open tears is safe. I can bear the pain, but the risk of infection freaks me out.

Hasn't killed me yet - or even given me a little infection. There are inherent dangers in everything - but having worked in an ER for 10 years and in surgery for longer than that, i think this one may be overstated. Infection dangers from anal sex would seem pretty minimal.
