A quick Google search to gain a visual of this "Johnny" character has recalled me seeing it somewhere in the past five years somewhere.  It may have been at a friends house since she usually likes more "out there" stuff.  I can vaguely recall it is some guy with voices or something compelling him to go on violent rampages, right?  Had some dark humour too, I believe.

I believe the OP is asking more about affectionate type nicknames than euphemistic type names, but when I saw the title, I couldn't help think of one euphemism I'd heard a number of years ago that was rather unique - purple helmeted warrior of love.
