Well, what a welcome!
And aboard Air Force One was a baker's dozen of Fortune 500 CEOs who want "free trade" with Brazil. As if the working class in this country haven't been ravaged enough already by all those free trade agreements that noone wanted in the first place.
Does anyone know when Obama is going to start listening to The People of this country and do what we want instead of listening to guys to whom $50 million dollars "doesn't amount to much?"
If they're working at all many people in Brazil make about $3,500 per year. What do the ivy leaguers think they're going to be buying from us, Cadillacs, $700 refridgerators, L.L. Bean clothing?
More likely they want to "open factories in Brazil" pay the people there less and close more factories in the U.S.
Who's side is Obama on?

Not sure where that tidbit from old Pops came from. I can't find any reference anywhere of there being 13 anything traveling with him.

I don't think old Pops understands that out of all the places you want to make nice with Brazil would be at the top of the list. Petrobras is sitting on the 4th largest oil reserves in the world, virtually in our back yard.

Brazil has long been a reliable friend if not ally and is poised to become a major economy. Better they should move in our sphere of influence than India or China's.

I've written and continue to write, Obama works for the bankers, the corporatists...they ALL do. When an executive presides over a devaluation of the stock, an unprecedented dozens of product recalls, etc, etc., and takes a pay cut down to a measly $23million+ and in one fucking year...then one is forced to recognize why the American economy exists. To serve the opulent few...period.

Agreed. High time we focused a little attention south of the border. Brazil will be a major player in the region, and is amenable to us unlike Venezuela, Cuba, etc.

In today's day and age, a President's physical presence is symbolic. He can work as effectively anywhere that has good phone service. Obama's visit is basically a goodwill visit and not a bad idea at all.

Michael Savage read their names on his show last week.
If you're interested I would think it would be easy to find that list of names. Wouldn't the unbiased "NPR" have it?
Experience has shown that whenever "our govt" gets us involved in "trade deals" the working class in this country gets hurt.
And when the working class get hurt we all get hurt. (Now there's a real "conservative" thought.)
Mike, even if you like Obama you have to admit that he's in way over his head.
That book, "The Peter Principle" comes to mind.
I thought he was supposed to get us "out" of wars not send 30,000 more Troops to Afganistan and get us involved in Libya.
How does the U.S. *possably* gain anything from getting involved in Libya?
They produce 2% of world oil and that is sold to Europe mostly.

Since NPR is unbiased and sort of responsible in their journalism, I doubt they would report anything on it, unless to say that michael savage is a fuckin nebbish.
