Yes I agree with You, many polititians are corrupt, damn look at our government (Quebec)

policies I do not agree with? well there are many

huge tax breaks for oil companys and banks, but not for middle class and the poor, the lack of transparence in the federal goverment gagging the press, building mega prisons while crime is down across the country, cutting funds in so many well needed areas, example for the mentally ill, he is against Womens rights, anti gay (trust Me is he gets a majority gays marriages will be illegal) cutting funds by 59% for climate change, cuts 45 million to the Arts, cutting funds at border crossings (even closing some posts) when 'w' was in power in the US harper was his little bitch no back bone whatsoever, at least Chretien stood up to him,(should i expect a visit from the rcmp or csis for saying this?) and on and on..

NDP...NDP...NDP...

Ditto! I have to plead ignorance here.
I don't believe I've ever read evil, conspiratorial Canada in any book ever! I think it's time y'all started doing some dumb chit, so you can get noticed. [;)] M

DomYngBlk -> RE: Election time in Canada...again (3/28/2011 6:19:57 AM)

Is Lucien Bouchard available?

kissheels -> RE: Election time in Canada...again (3/28/2011 7:05:46 AM)

doubt it, but Jean Chretien will be helping in some way, anything to get rid of harper!!!

Charles6682 -> RE: Election time in Canada...again (3/28/2011 7:37:43 AM)

Get rid of Stephen Harper!!!This guy would fit in perfect with the Fascist Teabagger here in America.I have read the history of Canada, been to Canada and follow the news of Canada.Stephen Harper would be better as a Governor of Lousinana or Mississippi than as PM of Canada.I can't believe Canada elected such a far right guy.I have heard his speeches in the past.If he could,he would make Canada where America was 50 years ago.He just knows he can't pull off alot of his agenda because his party is still a minority. If Canada gives this guy a full majority, then Canada can be right there with Scott Walker in Wisconsin!!

Arpig -> RE: Election time in Canada...again (3/28/2011 11:57:13 AM)

Now we're getting down to it! I agree with you on most of those policies of his actually. Except this bit
quote:

anti gay (trust Me is he gets a majority gays marriages will be illegal)
I don't think he could do it. It's legality is based on the Charter, so no law prohibiting it would pass muster. He'd have to invoke the notwithstanding clause, and that would be political suicide for him, and he knows it. It's a good issue to use to whip up the mouth-breathers out west, but its a non-starter as an actual policy goal. Gay marriage is here to stay (and thank God for that!).

kissheels -> RE: Election time in Canada...again (3/28/2011 7:12:45 PM)

with a majority he will do his damnest to have it banned, but i hope your right. I cant undewrstand any Women or Gays voting for him
and hes against Decriminalizing weed, this should cost him votes in BC lol and here to.

Arpig -> RE: Election time in Canada...again (3/29/2011 7:07:29 AM)

Let him try. Any law they pass would be struck down by the SC. Gay marriage isn't just legal in Canada, its a right. Its a Charter issue, so its constitutionally protected. The only way to do it is with the Notwithstanding Clause, and any Federal Gvt that invoked that for anything short of preventing the dissolution of the country would be toast.

Harper may be many things, but he's not stupid. He's aware of the facts, and he won't go there. Its the end of his career if he does, and he knows it,

I do find it quiet amazing just how little Americans actually know about our neighbors just to the north of us.Yet,Canadians seem to know so much about our culture.Too much American Idol, thats the problem!!We need Canadian Idol!!!
