I don't know if this is the most surprising thing I've ever learned, but it rates up there. I was most surprised to learn that not only did George W. Bush attend and graduate from Yale, but he also obtained an MBA from Harvard.

That I wasn't quite as smart as I thought I was. :-)

That this whole kinky thing isn't just a phase, rather it is something I need to be happy.

Which leads into the larger lesson:
Adulthood is what I want it to be, not how others perceive it.

Those two lessons set my world on end for a good year and a half, and made me a hell of a lot happier.

Barring that, I'm going to go with the surprise that I experienced with how immediate and deeply that I loved My first grandchild.

I'm going to have to go with a couple of things.......one being it felt odd NOT to feel much for my grandchildren for quite a few months. I somehow thought I'd feel something fairly strong.

I've had grandies for almost 9 yrs... and they were cute little blurs for the first months....In fact, until they began pulling my stuff about, dripping drinks and food all around the house, stab away at my plants in the garden with a teeny trowel..they were a bit like wallpaper really.I thought I'd be a comma in their lives but, without even trying, I'm amazingly significant, and they make me smile BIGTIME.

The other is how easy it is to admit things because I care less and less. By the time I die I'll be quite revolting!
