I've always thought it was unfair to leave an independant out of a primary.  Just because they refuse to associate themself with a huge established party doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to set up the race (or vote to set up the race) with the best candidate they see fit for the job.  Instead of making them, a large part of the voters, with the left overs of the primary elections.

Someone please inform pops that in most primaries...one needs to be a member of the party prior to voting. As he is this boards most famous independent...I don't see him casting a primary vote anytime soon.
