I'm not sure if it is the y Chromosome, or the giant cock as an avatar.

They are inextricably interwoven.

Quick question for DS... What word do you prefer for someone who does not identify as one side of the slash 24/7, if not switch?

I used to identify as submissive/slave to DB, but that excluded my dominant side. I'm not always in a dominant mode, because there are one or two people who I would bottom to if I had the chance. There are also times, when I had my sub gal with me at the club, and I was there with DB. It was like a totem pole... DB on top, me below him/above my girl, and my girl under me (in a hierarchial sense).

So... what term do you think describes the person who traditionally identifies as the word "switch?"

~ Red

I like the word "switch".  I just don't like it serving in so many different roles.  If you;ve ever done D/s with a multiple, it gets way confusing.

OK. Let's see if I understood you correctly, but I may be way off base, and if so, please explain as I am (at times) thick in the head.

(1) You like the word "switch" but perhaps not the way it is used.

The only definition of the four you gave that seems to fit in this thread's context (IMO), is the first:

A person who changes orientation (noun).

This "defines" me and many of the people I know who identify as "switches." My orientation (whether D or s) is somewhat fluid, therefore it changes.

OR...

(2) You do not like to play or have involvements with those who identify as a "switch" because the morphing dynamic of the person who can submit to one person, while holding the reins on another, because it is confusing?

I'm seriously curious here. I know that some people think "switches" just can't conform to one side or the other (which is incorrect, IMO), and are somehow fickle. I have these conversations often with my "in person" lifestyle friends and I always find the topic fascinating.

ETA after another read of your post:

"If you;ve ever done D/s with a multiple" (meaning someone with multiple personality disorder?)

Now I am confused... Please 'splain.

Arrgh alright add to this list the words ... "consensual blackmail" < this really annoys me. If you want me sending pictures to your mother of you blowing a horse trust me I have no problems doing it but do not say you are submitting to the idea of blackmail. Blackmail only works on those people that actually feel shame.

I am a word slut. I am sapiosexual and the D types who get my attention are always the well spoken, intelligent ones.
I value langage and communication.
Words and lables are to some people, so I don't step on toes about it.
Words and self-titles reveal a whole lot to me about the writer.
I find labels self-fulfilling, and this can have desired and\or unanticipated consequences.
The only label I really have any emotion about is the one Master uses to refer to me.

DeviantlyD - *self-professed grammar and spelling nazi* :D Sorry...I'm only teasing, but I couldn't resist!!!

Sapiosexual? Hmm...I understand the meanings of the roots, but...is it an actual word?

It's good to know that Y Chromosome makes me predictable.

*snorts!*

Oh there is much truth in that statement, beyond just you. *grins*

Okay, I'm officially being a bit of a bitch. How is that for a label. :D

Thank you for saying what I didn't want to hahaha. We of the female gender have a y chromosome as well so I think it has more to do with the cock. Men pretty much = tragic majick that I know what you are thinking before you do.

The words mistress(the other woman), and madam(female pimp)....these are both by definition derogatory terms. My owner is a Lady and should only be adressed as such.

What? Who taught you that? Genetically female human beings have two X chromosomes and zero Y chromosomes. There are genetic anomalies, of course, but the majority have two X chromosomes. Guys have one Y and one X.
