Lucy, I seriously doubt Kuhdaffy was making any reference at all to the birther thing with the "our son." Rather, I suspect it was along the lines of calling him "kid," and announcing that he's about to get schooled.

I wasnt think so much the "birther" thing, but the moozlem "thing"
the guys a shit stirrer and liar and capable of anything tho

And he's been doing it since Pres. Obama was in grade school.

We (thru the auspices of the CIA) sort of helped him up the ladder when he was a commo sergeant in the day....it was convienient to our 'vital interests' at the time.

You mean in the same manner that a poster of Drudge reports was screaming that Obama was doing nothing and the rebels would all be dead.  Then once the missiles started flying was wondering why we were involved?

Funny how that works, isn't it?

We have a few posters on here who have done the same.

The lesson is "Obama bad", no matter what he does.

Or could it be the "genocide" that,.....never materialized? Oh,.....it "could" happen,..... couldn't it?
Or maybe that Oblunder was lying when he made that speech and said that there'd be no "boots on the ground" when in fact there (had) been "boots on the ground" for weeks before he made "The Speech."

So............how did you feel about Iraq Popeye?

You just don't quite get it do you?

If you supported Bush in Iraq but are now condemning Obama in Libya that is beyond hypocritical.

Rule, as I said last week I protested Iraq by calling and writing to my senators and congressman in N.H.
Before that it was Bosnia/Kosovo by Clinton.
I don't favor *U.S. Military intervention* in foreign countries unless we're attacked and then, then massive intervention and I don't mean "humanitarian" intervention.
What, a president uses the terms, "genocide" or,.....lol, "ethnic cleansing" and I, as an American Citizen am supposed to drop everything and pick up a rifle? Gee, we know know that Clinton was helping the wong side! The college kids in "The Dorm" as it was called at the W.H. didn't even know who the various "sides" and "ethnicities" were! Wasn't Clinton offered Bin Laden by Yemen?
When those politicians say "we're not the world's policeman" that's what it means! There's no "buts...".
It doesn't mean that if a country can get a lot of press coverage by "idealistic" photographers and news people the U.S. will go into "that" country to "help out" militarily!
Look at Bosnia and Kosovo, what possable business was that of the U.S.'?

flcouple2009 -> RE: Libya --- why isn't this of interest anymore? (4/8/2011 8:23:58 AM)

Serious question.

Do you just make this stuff up to try and set certain people off or are you really this unaware that anything you try and post as fact is wrong?

mnottertail -> RE: Libya --- why isn't this of interest anymore? (4/8/2011 8:25:37 AM)

I think thats why his senator told him that he didnt know what a treaty was, get him off the phone as quick as possible....

Or they are sitting around waiting for another thread on how pathetic everyone on the right is. My guess is, they won't wait long.

Indeed not, one of your right wing cohorts is bound to start such a thread in the near future.

What he doesn't get is that it is a matter of factuality and something called truth.....and oh yeah intellectual honesty, something he is sorely lacking.

tweakabelle -> RE: Libya --- why isn't this of interest anymore? (4/8/2011 9:10:20 PM)

This is slightly off thread but related.

It's an article by Tawakkol Karman, one of the founders of the movement to overthrow the dictator Saleh in Yemen. She tells the story of the Yemeni revolution and its goals.

Well Popeye, believe it or not, I'm coming around more to your way of thinking on this issue.

We can't keep devoting our resources to involvement in other countries.

FLC, no, I don't make this stuff up, it's my opinion.
"Anything?"
So, I take it then you were "in favor" of invading Iraq?
I think our Troops should be used *extremely sparingly* in foreign countries. Like now helping out Japan or Haiti after the earthquake, not toppling foreign govt's or dictators or getting involved in civil wars.
People wonder why the world hates the U.S. and now we're lobbing missiles into Libya. They're worried about "genocide" in Libya and we find out that 2/5's of Gadaffy's oposition is affiliated with al qeada? Wipe them out!
At $14.2 Trillion in debt we simply cannot afford to be doing stupid things like that anymore!
"NATO" stands for "North Atlantic Treaty Organization" not the North African Treaty Organization.
They're about 2,000 miles South of their jurisdiction!
Under Article 4 the purpose of our Military is to "stem invaisions" not to get involved in the civil wars of foreign countries just because whichever president in office at the time "thinks" we should.
And George Washington was absolutely right when he said, "We should avoid foreign entanglements."
