GreedyTop -> MRI's and political leanings (4/11/2011 11:46:43 PM)

I thought this was rather interesting:  http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_theticket/20110411/pl_yblog_theticket/will-president-obama-and-the-house-gop-ever-agree-science-suggests-no

I love this, perfectly sums up my feelings.

From your link:

Using data from MRI scans, researchers at the University College London found that self-described liberals have a larger anterior cingulate cortex--a gray matter of the brain associated with understanding complexity.

Meanwhile, self-described conservatives are more likely to have a larger amygdala, an almond-shaped area that is associated with fear and anxiety.

Why is this surprising?

Thanks for posting the article, GT!!  I actually just found that very same brain fact on facebook and wondered if I should share it here or not.  It is interesting.  Here is the link I read it from.

I didn't need science to tell me that, for that was already observed from this forum, people whose politics dwell on conservative ideals are full of fear, it is plain to see.

I wonder where the conspirators fit in, because conspiracy has also been linked to fear and anxiety.

Sanity -> RE: MRI's and political leanings (4/12/2011 6:36:47 AM)

So liberals think they know everything and they fear nothing. That explains a lot... [:D]

Like their "We cant be out of money, there are still checks in the checkbook" mentality. "Besides, what could possibly go wrong even if we are writing bad checks...[sm=mrpuffy.gif]"

Or how they just know that that nothing could possibly go wrong wrong with Jihadists who aint afraid to die getting their hands on nuclear weapons...

And this study was done in England on a whopping 90 subjects, correct?

Where did they find 45 American Conservatives in England.

Then theres the fact that we are constantly being fed a line by European posters who claim there are no Socialists in America...

Real0ne -> RE: MRI's and political leanings (4/12/2011 6:54:15 AM)

funny

its about as useless as the big dick, big tits, and big ass arguments that used to be floating around.

then there are those of us who see both sides for what they are.

fools

We can however find links not only to the study itself but also the people involved
Ryota Kanai, Tom Feilden, Colin Firth, Geraint Rees
University College London Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, 17 Queen Square, London WC1N 3AR, UK
Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging, University College London, 12 Queen Square, London WC1N 3BG, UK

Your disbelief of course is what is expected.
Can you imagine if English conservatives were that much different... how an American conservative would look?
And what This English liberal has been saying is YOU wouldn't know a socialist if one bit you o n the ass
And you have proven that time after time after time.
I would be interested to see the results on a larger demographic, but the cost of MRIs in the US I can imagine is prohibitive at best.Cant waste good money on liberal ideas, correct?

Sanity -> RE: MRI's and political leanings (4/12/2011 7:28:04 AM)

The fact remains, study isnt available to the public, luce

ArizonaBossMan -> RE: MRI's and political leanings (4/12/2011 7:31:14 AM)

I have no idea if it is true, but I do know the mainstream media would never report factually and truthfully on this: http://www.mediaite.com/online/for-those-that-find-birtherism-passe-blogs-report-on-obamas-brain-surgery-scars/ Experience teaches me when leftists whine and moan there is something there.

GreedyTop -> RE: MRI's and political leanings (4/12/2011 7:36:02 AM)

Why do I wish I had posted this in H&S instead?

Louve.. thanks for the link :)

Louve00 -> RE: MRI's and political leanings (4/12/2011 7:39:25 AM)

And thanks for yours, too!!  I found it so ironic cuz I just read that on facebook, but from another source.  Seems there are a lot of sources out there to support it.  All in all, its very interesting and proves itself out here, at times.

Have a GREAT day GT!  [:)]

GreedyTop -> RE: MRI's and political leanings (4/12/2011 7:39:55 AM)

You too!!  *hugs*

Lucylastic -> RE: MRI's and political leanings (4/12/2011 7:41:23 AM)

no your point had nothing to do with it being avaiblable to the public

The supposed study, which no one has a link to the study itself, begs the question - why is it that Conservatives can post on topic

Dont change the goalposts the fact that it costs money does NOT mean anything.
Many studies are the same, but I wouldnt expect you to know that
Some newspapers charge to view their stuff, it doesnt mean its not factual or not.
You are really trying to pull a bunny out your hat, but its dead and rotten.
You're attempt at deception is laughable. As usual
Edited to say thanks to Greedy for the link
and to fix formatting problem

RANT WARNING! [sm=anger.gif] RANT WARNING! [sm=banghead.gif] RANT WARNING! [sm=bite.gif]

Oh for Chirst’s fucking sake! God! I hate this kind of shit!

“We now have superior scientific proof – provided by our superior scientists – of what we have known all along: that we are superior and those undesirables are inferior. Recommendations for appropriate legislation in dealing with the inferiors will follow.”

Conservatism is NOT brain defect. Liberalism is NOT a mental disorder. They are world views that result not just from nature but from nurture (family life, culture, education, experience, etc) as well.

Hopefully this shit will go the way of phrenology because that’s all it’s worth. It is nothing more that load of crap being used to justify self flattery… now.

If some of you out there want to flatter yourselves that this bullshit actually validates your disgusting, narcissistic, notions of your superiority then you can join your Aryan buddies in following the sun. The benighted masses await your benevolent, civilizing influence.

Facist Fuckers.

Rant over. We now return you to your normally placid Marc, already in progress.
