My spirital religion is getting away from it all. A hike in the woods is priceless. A mountain ride on the Harley is awesome. Metal detecting a beach is relaxing. The outdoors is great, I never think of work when I am outside and I dont have to hear a bunch of loosers talking non stop about work. I have nothing against church religion but how many religions are out there, which one of them is right, they cant all be. No two seem to be the same.

Mine is a mix of what some would consider to be taken from about half a dozen faiths/sects/cults/doctrines/brands (that I would disagree on) plus the golden rule. Being one with nature, my soul a part of whats good in the world, positive energy and the righteousness and courage that comes from fighting against mean people, evil people and bullies. So perhaps its kind of like "May the force be with you"/meets modern day "Robin Hood". [:)]

Countryside is necessary to keep the cities apart. While nature is necessary as the lungs of the planet, I have no desire to explore the boring lungs of the planet than I have to look into my own lungs. I've been to many beautiful parts of the world and briefly experienced the awe and mystery of nature but could never get back to the metropolis quick enough where interesting ideas are exchanged.

I have no religion as none make sense to me and I don't believe there necessarily has to be a creator of the universe. Which ever way you jump, towards a creator or towards the idea that the universe sprang out of nothing both are just as equally nonsensical. Evil? What is that? A label put upon something by interested parties.

I'm happy with the idea we exist in a giant explosion and hurtling through space with no meaning behind existence whatsoever. I just don't need validating that way. I'm alive for a blinking of an eye before I am extinguished. Life is too short and physics so fascinating. I feel blessed I'm fortunate to have a life where I can ponder upon the beautiful poety of the universe modern science has revealed to us and happy in my bafflement at the unknown. We are ultimately nothing so its pointless to do other than feed ones intellect, try and make life a little better for those people less fortunate than me and enjoy the ride.

Throughout the history of the human race, for the vast majority of people, life has been short, brutal and wretched. To imagine that humans are central to the meaning of life and have some special affinity with a creator is the ultimate human conceit.

Damn, what about having a cold pint a guinness with you while you're relaxing on the cabin porch? Now that's spirital.

Hinduism...there is a focus on spirituality, which I found wasn't present in the faith I once was....

Depends on how you define "religion" and what exactly you mean when you say "right."  In some ways religions are all very similar.

Evangelical atheist here, as well as apathetic agnostic and reformed druid. Druids of old found virtue in the Ash, Yew, and Oak while we reformed druids prefer paying homage to a nicely crafted armoire.

I'm a Christian, but I don't claim any certain denomination or call it a religion. It's about spirituality and faith for me.

Phoenixandnika -> RE: My Spirital Religion is.....What is yours ? (5/9/2006 12:10:15 PM)

I don't beleive there is a right or wrong religion. I think everyone seeks understanding seeks something greater than themselves, something to answer the why's in life, to help them get through life at times. I don't condemn any religion, however; that does not mean that I accept them for myself or want them preached at me.

That being said I am a practicing wiccan.

Blessed Be,

I've been calling myself a hedonistic intellectual for a while now, but lately I've been reading a book titled Socrate's Cafe, and I'm being reminded of how socratic I've always been.

So, perhaps, I'll change it to socratic hedonist. Although it just doesn't have the same ring somehow. Maybe hedonistic philosopher...

I'll question it some more, and some more, and some more...and eventually let you know. [8D]

I call myself a Wiccan, because that's what fits me most closely.  Of course, being a stubborn human, I've interjected my own ideas and philosophies into the mix and created a spirituality all my own.  The Charge of the Goddess by Doreen Valiente comes closest to summing up my beliefs.  "All acts of love and pleasure are my rituals."

I find my spirituality in the wild woods, with moonlight in my hair and naked feet dancing in rhythm to the ancient beat of life.

Of course, I occasionally step on a spider and scream my head off.  That's what I get for dancing naked in a dark forest.  Next time I'm bringing candles.

RamaLlama -> RE: My Spirital Religion is.....What is yours ? (5/9/2006 11:02:37 PM)

I personally prefer ideas to beliefs. People don’t kill over ideas. I think the whole right and wrong idea is a bit ridiculous, especially coming form a race that can’t manage to govern themselves.

ElectraGlide -> RE: My Spirital Religion is.....What is yours ? (5/9/2006 11:10:54 PM)

Hello RamaLlama I was trying to refer to dealing with every day stress. There are many ways to deal with it. Ideas and beliefs are good ways. I guess I choose the relaxation route as my choice. It helps balance the madness of life out.

I was raised Christian, but now that i'm old enough to take in and understand the world around me, i'm an Agnostic.

Organaized religion creeps me out, as do the people that push it on others.  Nobody knows the truth about the existence of a Supreme Being, that's why it's called a "belief".  To proclaim it as "truth" to me, is the height of arrogance.

All that aside, a cold beer on a sunny day along at the cottage is a spiritual moment indeed.

:P
