For me, its not about Religion ... Its about faith.
The focal point of my faith is my relationship with God ... As Creator, His relationship with me began the moment I was conceived in my mother's womb but my relationship with Him did not begin until I accepted salvation through Christ.
Beyond that, I've been told I'm kind of Pagan ... Which bothers me because I think it says a lot of the misunderstanding between Pagans and Christians. My Pagan friends base that statement on the fact that I don't 'beat them over the head with my beliefs', that I love them and listen when they talk about their beliefs and that I tend to respect life and take care of nature and about a million other things I do simply because its who I am.
To me, being a Christian is about love ... Its not about beating someone over the head with threats of judgement, hellfire and damnation. What your Creator chooses to do with you is between you and Him. I don't have the right to try to scare you into a relationship with God.
Its about loving people regardless. I can hate what you do but I can't hate you. If anything, my duty is to live by example ... Doing my best to uphold my morals and values, accepting forgiveness and moving on when I make a mistake or falter on my path, accepting responsibility for taking care of the earth because as human beings, we have dominion over the earth and simply doing everything I can to be a reflection of Christ's love to a world where pure and honest love is in short supply.
