I take pleasure from adminstering punishment. I don't come from the school of: "if she fails it's a result of your communication flaws", or "if she fails then you haven't taught her well". It's not for me to go cap in hand and explain my communication process; it's for her to appeal and I'll consider it. Similarly, I'm confident in my principles and methods, so in the event she steps out of line, then it's her choice - when has a human being not stepped out of line?
I don't punish for showing 100% commitment while coming up short - I have all the time and patience in the world for a woman who gives it her all and works to improve. But, in the event she forgets her place, then I'll come down hard and take pleasure from it. Not a chance in the world that I'm going to expend energy and not enjoy it. Perhaps I'll put her in solitary confinement and play a spot of sinister music over loud speakers and intersperse it with messages of what is coming to her, for a few hours, so, in her beleagured state, she has to spend time agonising over what is coming. And, my intention is to make it a punishment where she doesn't do it again.
Having said this, I would rather not punish, and prefer obedience. Primarily because: a) I value harmony and peace over conflict and b) Human beings are at their best when not activated by fear - so I build relationships based on self-confidence.
In sum, I'm a massive fan of accomodating women :-)
