ORIGINAL: socio If their really in love then all the best to them but other then that the whole phenomena is bewildering to me. I'm a 20 something American so royalty means nothing to me but it is interesting to see how the english respond to it. It's an interesting comment on society that if they were a poor alabama couple people would give less then a shit but as defunct royalty it seems many have gone mad for it. Princess fantasies or pure looky lue behavior I'm not sure. I didn't watch a single minute of it, and looked on bemused at some of the stuff on the news. Most people I know are't interested, so I'm curious as to where all these people spring up from. Admittedly I live in a Northern city, historically far less royal orientated than the Southern shires. Broadly speaking, I think it's a chance for people to have a day on the lash - whether that be beer, wine or champagne (working or middle class) - and watch how the other half/celebrity lives. Watching the news, there were boatloads of Canadians/Aussies/Kiwis/Americans in that mall bit, so for whatever reason other countries like all of that. A 2 billion worldwide audience apparently, as crazy as that is.
