As a "Believer", I want to tell you to hold on to your beliefs in the "Afterlife".
I have found very little to believe in, in this world, and I have complete faith in the
"Afterlife".

I can't even fathom thinking that this world was "it" for me.
As usual, to each their own.

As one wise poster wrote here once, "I don't have to prove to you there is a GOD, you have to prove to me there is not one".

I would add, I don't have to prove to anyone there is a "hereafter" or an "Afterlife", you have to prove it to ME, that there is NOT one.

I want to clarify what I was saying.

I believe strongly in GOD.

What I have little faith in are the rulers of this world.
I believe we are destroying the earth and it is only a matter of time until whatever happens to the earth, happens.
Whether it happens in 20 years or 220 years matters very little.

I should have clarified I don't have faith that man won't eventully destroy this planet, of course there are other planets, and galaxies, but that is another subject.
: )

There is so much more in the universe, than little old earth.

This is good. My Goddess is a great support to me at all times. The small bits of Her infinite wisdom that I can grasp guide me each day, and Her compassion is a comfort to me in times both of trial and  joy. I hope your God is all this and more to you.

As an atheist, I agree with you that living is its own reward . . . if you are lucky. The Hindu religion has a completely different view of reincarnation however. More to do with reaching Nirvana. And you can't get there in a taxi. thanks for your reply.

Status: offline 		I like to hope that there's an afterlife, or even reincarnation - that would be okay, too. On the other hand, if my soul just disappears from existence and I'm not aware of it (just as I wasn't aware of life before I was born), then I wouldn't know it, and that probably wouldn't matter either.

What unsettles me, though, is the idea we might still have some awareness after death. Like, still having consciousness imprisoned inside a dead body, feeling it slowly rot, without being able to call out or move or anything. I think I saw a movie about that many years ago, but I can't remember what it was called.
