It seems to be false:http://cjonline.com/news/2011-04-28/miss-sheriff-online-wbc-reports-are-false

Edit to add: However the turnout of people paying their respects was such that had the WBC nuts been there they wouldn't have even really been noticed and perhaps that is the real lesson.

I'm sorry to hear the story turned out to be false.  However, I do have a true story:

When the Arizona Congresswoman was shot last year, the WBC announced that they would be traveling to Arizona to protest at the funeral of the 8-year-old girl that was one of the victims--she was Catholic, although what that had to do with anything I don't know.

My sister lives there, and signed up to be one of the thousands of people who were going to surround the whole area with a human shield.  Someone from Arizona contacted the WBC to let them know: 1) We're ready for you. 2) This is a concealed-carry state.  At the last minute, they heard that the WBC had changed their mind.  My sister said a lot of people there were very disappointed--they were ready to do some damage to the "church."

Do you support those inbred Phelps cultists? yes or no?

I don't support their methods or their purpose.

I do support their first amendment rights, and I do not accept 'hillbilly justice' that denies them that.  The latter is far more dangerous.

The next time, the vigilante forces just might come around and deny you your first amendment rights.  How would you feel then?

Violence has been tried already popeye1250 it has resulted in filling the WBC coffers with lawsuit money.
They make a living off such lawsuits, they know exactly how to pick the fights so that you do something stupid.

Cutting off the money is the only thing that will stop them.

Its a shame those who are too emotional, enraged, or vigilante-minded to see the ploy keep inadvertently feeding them exactly the money they need.
