When I first saw the OPs question my answer was a resounding yes, but after coming across Sub03's post I saw it in a whole new perspective. How right you are.
Both partners know their roles, so the D/s element is always in place, and within those defined parameters one can still share the feelings of love that can go along with vanilla sex. Warm fuzzies, reddened buns...My how we lifestylers have it all.

my guess is that last Dom was a SUPER nice guy .. knew his stuff . and trained you hard. thats why you could never go back to ol vanilla sex .... you need the hard rough sex he gave you 3 times a day .. or ... well . uhhh .. how many ever times he actually did it . not that I know or nuffin

Absolutely, without a doubt.  Vanilla sex is and can be very wonderful between two...whether D/s or not.  Vanilla sex is beautiful and passionate.
 
When it comes down to everything, W/we're all just people.  Sometimes W/we want a good hard, bloody, messy fuck...and sometimes... even we...want to make love.

just to throw my 2 cents in once again ... Vanilla by definetion at least within our lifestyle means not of the BDSM lifestyle or alternative lifestyle ..... so therefore vanilla sex would be having sex with someone who is not of this lifestyle . the dynamic is lost in such a situation. without the dynamic it's just vanilla sex and that I don't want or won't have .... I need the dynamic in place. I know this because I was married to a vanilla women for quite sometime . and sex and gotten tedious if not boring .. and at the end I didn't even want it with her due to lack of dynamics ..... she tried but wasn't able to give me that so we went our seperate ways .. she is married to a nice vanilla guy and is happy . I am searching for my soul mate the one who completes me ... but I will not just have random sex with a vanilla girl to get my nut off ..... I got a hand to take care of all that ... lmaooo

I think Vanilla sex is fine, but for me...if he's not ordering me to do 'something' (grins), I cannot get into as much. No offense to the vanilla thing...good for a quickie, perhaps....but mix it up with a 'touchcha' dirty  talk and a 'sprinkle' of "Get on your knees now and......(insert your own word there)...." and I'm OK with it.[:)]

In my experience, yes. It's obviously different for everyone though. :)

After i parted with my first Master, i swore up and down that i couldn't ever, EVER have vanilla sex again. Ever. But after i got older, especially once i met my current Master, i realized that while i won't ever be on the agressive side of things, W/we still enjoy lovemaking without any bells and whistles. W/we bond during both physical acts, and they're both acts of love and trust, but it's just different.

Now, as it was pointed out by someone earlier...it may just be that the sex itself has a vanilla twist, but it's not really vanilla. It's an interesting question...due to the nature of the relationships W/we are all in or interested in...could it ever truly be vanilla? Hmmmm.

what your having is not vanilla sex so to speak ... you and your Master are having a sexual encounter without the twist or kink in it . totally different then having vanilla sex .... the dynamic is still there ..

i guess that it is, but who would want to??    i have a girlfriend that doesn't understand my lifestyle choice and she recently asked me the same question.  She fears that i am hurting myself or being hurt and would like to see me in a more June Cleaver lifestyle.  i don't mind wearing the pearls every now and then, but i just can't imagine missing all of this wonderful excitement that i have discovered!
