And isn't it ironic that the taxdollars of the half without health insurance in this country are spent by our govt. building hospitals in "developing" countries.

Source if ya got it, and not from a blog.

Okay. I do not disagree with this. But can't bp be treated curatively by serious change in diet and exercise? In some cases? Many cases? Most cases?

The causes of high blood pressure arent known in most cases...

quote:

In as many as 95% of reported high blood pressure cases in the United States, the underlying cause cannot be determined. This type of high blood pressure is called essential hypertension.

Would you agree/not agree that the existence of high tech medicine makes it the imperative default choice amongst doctors today in preventative protocol. Not my field but that is what i have heard. Would welcome your insights.

If I am reading this correctly, you are asing if Drs prefer curative over preventative?

Hmmmmm . . . not quite. as i sort out my own thinking i believe i am suggesting the existence of new and expensive technology exerts a pressure on doctors to use it as a default proceedure. Not necessarily because they are enamored by it or are even convinced of its efficacy. I guess i am suggesting an institutional pressure to use the new toys even if simpler, less costly proceedures might be equally useful. Or of equally unknown efficacy. Or another way to think of it, new technology carries its own imperative just because it is there. Wonder what you think?

What isnt ironic is how prevantative medicine is always cheaper than curative. Its the curative base that drives up cost, which is why we are in the condition we are in today.

Tazzy, tell that to the fat-asses! See if you can get them to walk around the block, forget a 3-mile.
They're all diabetic but,...they don't know "why!" lol
I'm about to go out for a walk, $5 says I don't see any fat-asses out there pounding the pavement.

Anyone can get high blood pressure. But, some people have a greater chance of having it because of things they can’t change. These are:

•Age. The chance of having high blood pressure increases as you get older.
•Gender. Before age 55, men have a greater chance of having high blood pressure. Women are more likely to have high blood pressure after menopause.
•Family history. High blood pressure tends to run in some families.
•Race. African-Americans are at increased risk for high blood pressure.

Enjoy the walk, old man.

True, but what the minority believes doesn't matter. The masses still believe that all they need to do is get their guys in office, and eeeeeeverything will be just fine.

Our problems are primarily caused by adhering to an outdated monetary-economic system that's not sustainable. The sleeping masses can paint donkeys and elephants on the symptoms of the underlying problem until they're blue (or red) in the face, and it won't change anything... aside from a temporary band-aid here or there.

What do you think of Health Care and related industries comprising over 17% of our GDP?

Hey, maybe if we could find a way to make more sick and dying people, we could keep our crumbling monetary-economic system afloat just a while longer.
