Perfect board for this POLITICAL aspect of slavery.

What is the singular purpose of having a slave or slaves in the real world of every day life?   After we establish that point and there is a singular incontrovertible purpose that stands above all others then we can move on to more interesting avenues.

subfever -> RE: The Real World of Slavery. . . (4/30/2011 5:33:43 PM)

Primary purpose = extracting value.

Yes RO we are all slaves to the crown, yes now please bugger off and go back under your bridge, let the grownups wind each other up

daym!

good one!  first poster!

value which basically converts to money.

I certainly hope so, but I've been surprised on these boards in the past... [;)]

you beebopping down the street, how can you tell the difference?

How can you determine if you are someones slave?

What are things to look for?  ......or do you believe that slavery is still the antiquated iron around the ankle and whip version?   There are many kinds of slavery you know.

So how can you tell?

What are the signs?

ChatteParfaitt -> RE: The Real World of Slavery. . . (4/30/2011 9:13:07 PM)

Sweetie, why don't you tell us what the "real" signs of slavery are? We need to be educated by you.

Go ahead and spill forth your entire agenda.

Not so sure about you, from the posts I have seen you seem to have a better handle on historical reality than a lot of them out here...

I have to admit that I am surprised that on a bdsm site there isnt 10 pages of all the ways one can be a thrall.

am i the only one who is scratching my head in wonder on this?

How can we know where we are going if we dont know where we have been?

not having the right to make choices and decisions about your own life.

and before you say "well you're not allowed to choose xyz" there is a difference between not having the right to make a specific choice, and not having the right to make any choice at all.

Real0ne -> RE: The Real World of Slavery. . . (5/1/2011 11:39:25 AM)

ok...
so to explore that to the next step we need to ask you/anyone precisely what is a "right" is and where does it come from?

How does it come to belong to someone in the first place?

People claim they have them all the time, you see it on most threads but no one has stopped to tell me what a right really is?

We need to know this to know what the slave does not have compared what everyone else does have, in terms of a right that is.

subfever -> RE: The Real World of Slavery. . . (5/1/2011 12:46:55 PM)

Human rights are defined by whatever governing body one may exist under, the largest being the UN, which currently has 192 member countries.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights

It seems fairly obvious, that these so-called rights are not universally enforced.

You do not know who is a slave, a master, dominant or submissive. The reason is that the last politically sanctioned slave was sold in 1969 in Saudi Arabia.

The rest is consensual and is in the mind, i.e....not visibly recognized at all. So there are no signs and no, you can't tell. If one believes there are in fact 'many kinds' of slavery then you've answered you own question...the kind you do not see.

A right is a legal protection to do something. Rights don't exist outside the law. Rights without laws are simply "capabilities."

that is sorta where I am going on that.

if there are invisible means of enslaving someone regardless of whom or what the enslaver is that is what I am trying to get laid out on the table for us to look at....

The problem of course is if they are invisible how do we find them?  How can we know or make that determination.  I am inclined to agree with invisible.  That and if it is invisible it would come under politically sanctioned.

quote:

On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights the full text of which appears in the following pages. Following this historic act the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize the text of the Declaration and "to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories."

PREAMBLE

Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world,

unfortunately that doesnt have much to do with the individual.

sounds like you are referring to the writ of right for legal affairs.

that is one version of right but what about moral right, just right both which may be outside the commercial world?

Would a just cause not be a right?

The legal version confers rights based on the fee.  What about the right to tap your fingers on your knee for instance?  Where would we find a law for that?  I can proclaim I have the right to tap my finger and someone would challenge it and take it to court I would most likely win.  (never know now days)

so not all rights are sanctioned in law.
