Well Red, I can't really add anything to this except to say well said!! I saw some comments on here from people that would have a fit if they weren't absolutely treated with deference in regards to their personal lifestyles/special interests, yet find sweeping across the board generalizations and the mass annihilation of people totally acceptable. Yes it is racist and yes it is prejudice to wish for the genocide of entire countries based on their religion. Which is so misunderstood and mis-aligned it's a wonder more people aren't the same way I guess.

I come from a military family, I have a baby sister serving overseas now, and I am glad as fuck Osama is dead. However....he is NOT representative of Muslims, anymore than Christian = Westboro Baptist Church. Like the hot redhead above me said first.  [;)].

It's time for people to either educate themselves on politics and world affairs or if you don't wish to be, fine, then at least shut the fuck up before you call for the mass killing of entire races/ethnicities/religions based on your mis-information. The image of America is tainted enough without more jingoistic xenophobic bullshit coming from us again.

I agree with you 200%, Aynne. I come from a military family as well, and have had friends serve over there during the past 10 years, and I, too, am happy that he's dead. There will be more crazies who will try to fill his sandals, but like you said, they aren't representative of Islam.

(typo again)

What I find amazingly jaw-dropping is that there are people who stomp around demanding tolerance, respect, and acceptance for their little "special interest group" and then blast others based on something that they are personally ignorant of, scared of, or bigoted against "just because" and refuse to call it what it is... hypocracy and prejudice.

Brava! It does become tiresome.

Hell, I like that just because you successfully used "jingoistic" and "xenophobic" in the same coherent sentence, AND spelled them both right.

Thanks thompsonx. I don't even care what side of the issue people are on, but represent it with some knowledge at least, right?

Malkin said it best:

As I said yesterday about the tired old concerns that photos/video might “enflame” the Muslim world, when is it not enflamed?

mnottertail -> RE: Bin Laden..........DEAD (5/4/2011 6:37:43 AM)

Why doesn't the picture match?  I see no burkhas on those women, no hat on the man, I believe those are Hindi.

Sanity -> RE: Bin Laden..........DEAD (5/4/2011 6:40:30 AM)

They do not lash Hindi women nearly to death if their scarves fall from their heads, she is more likely Muslim

mnottertail -> RE: Bin Laden..........DEAD (5/4/2011 6:41:27 AM)

I see no lashing either. something is amiss.

Owner59 -> RE: Bin Laden..........DEAD (5/4/2011 6:47:31 AM)

It`s ignorant bigotry,tis all, thinking it`s warning us of the evil brown people.

Every major religion in the world has bad history if you have the brains to read about it. To say that Christians have always been peaceful, passive people is insane. For what it's worth, I am Christian, and I know the history that is in my faith. Has anyone ever heard of the Crusades?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusades

The Crusades were a series of religiously sanctioned military campaigns, waged by much of Roman Catholic Europe, particularly the Franks of France and the Holy Roman Empire. The specific crusades to restore Christian control of the Holy Land were fought over a period of nearly 200 years, between 1095 and 1291. Other campaigns in Spain and Eastern Europe continued into the 15th century. The Crusades were fought mainly by Roman Catholic forces (taking place after the East–West Schism and mostly before the Protestant Reformation) against Muslims who had occupied the near east since the time of the Rashidun Caliphate, although campaigns were also waged against pagan Slavs, pagan Balts, Jews, Russian and Greek Orthodox Christians, Mongols, Cathars, Hussites, Waldensians, Old Prussians, and political enemies of the various popes.[1] Orthodox Christians also took part in fighting against Islamic forces in some Crusades. Crusaders took vows and were granted a plenary indulgence.[1][2]

...Criticism

Elements of the Crusades were criticized by some from the time of their inception in 1095. For example, Roger Bacon felt the Crusades were not effective because, "those who survive, together with their children, are more and more embittered against the Christian faith."[40] In spite of such criticism, the movement was widely supported in Europe long after the fall of Acre in 1291.

Historians agree that St. Francis of Assisi crossed enemy lines to meet the Sultan of Egypt. Hoeberichts cast doubt on the intentions most Christian historians assign to Francis.

From the fall of Acre forward, the Crusades to recover Jerusalem and the Christian East were largely lost. Later, 18th century Enlightenment thinkers judged the Crusaders harshly. Likewise, some modern historians in the West expressed moral outrage. In the 1950s, Sir Steven Runciman wrote a resounding condemnation:
"High ideals were besmirched by cruelty and greed ... the Holy War was nothing more than a long act of intolerance in the name of God".[40]

Daddysredhead -> RE: Bin Laden..........DEAD (5/4/2011 11:53:08 AM)

Just a little 'factoid,' "Rage Boy" lives in a small village in the Indian-administered Kashmir area.
When I was living overseas, most of the Indian and Sri Lankan Muslim women were not as strictly bound to keep their hair and face covered, as they are in the Arab nations.

As to the 'beware of the brown people,' what the hell do I do when my kids are half brown and still live at home??? *shock and horror* I am doomed. (LOL)

mnottertail -> RE: Bin Laden..........DEAD (5/4/2011 12:07:06 PM)

Stick a burkha on in sweetie.

Daddysredhead -> RE: Bin Laden..........DEAD (5/4/2011 12:32:56 PM)

I may be the only almost 6 feet tall burkah wearing chick in my neighborhood, Ron. I hope I don't stick out.
